The four-member female group conducted a showcase to promote their second album called "REALITY IN BLACK."
During the interview, MAMAMOO described their newest lead single "HIP." Younger member Hwasa stated, "The song is about existing without caring about what other people think about you. 'Hip' comes from the outlook of loving oneself, so the song holds a message that you should value yourself and live confidently instead of considering how others see you."
Hwasa added, "It was a fun song, although I found it to be a difficult track at first. I wanted to perform it in the coolest manner. But composer Kim Do Hoon already created it that way, so I liked that we were able to show that vibe."
Solar then commented on their first time performing without microphones but wearing headsets. She said, "We will do the performance with a headset on. felt like crying at that time. It was too difficult that I wanted to give up during practice." She added, "CEO Kim Do Hoon pointed out, 'You won't be able to this with a mic. You have to wear a headset if you aim to do each detail.' Thinking about it, I was nervous at first, but it's nice to show something new and different."
"Lia Kim was the one who made the choreography, and she did an excellent job in creating it," Solar continued. Moonbyul then commented, "We tried doing it since we would like to expose a different appearance."
Later on, the girl group was asked what they might have become if they had not become K-pop idols. Solar answered first and said, "My first dream was to be a flight attendant. But, I discovered that it doesn't suit me. One time, my mom told me to pursue a career as an oriental medicine doctor."
Hwasa replied, "To be honest, I'm not sure. I think I would be in a particular place living freely. And Solar's answer reminds me of something. My mom wanted me to be a monk." Then, later on, stated that she has always liked dancing and drawing since she was little. So, she might have become a dancer.
Moonbyul shared, "I gave it a lot of thought. If I hadn't bumped into the MAMAMOO members and we're all alone, I think I would have been working hard to be a police officer. But I like the world we have now more."
