Netizens and fans of the 15-year old Buster member Chaeyeon expressed their anger and frustrations out on social media websites after being involved in an assaulting and cursing controversy along with the EBS children show, Tok!Tok! Boni Hani hosts, Choi Young Soo and Park Dong Geun.
During the live broadcast of the said show, Choi Young-Soo was seen hitting the young girl on her arms. This causes vast reactions from the netizens who had watched the broadcast. Also, Park Dong Geun, which is also the cast of the children show, was allegedly cursed or said a hate speech towards Chaeyeon, which is not suitable for her minor age.
After the issue fired up, the gag comedians immediately denied the allegations, Young Soo claiming that he was only playing with the Buster member, and hitting her arms was just a form of a joke between them, which is typical for them who had a close relationship.
Park Dong Geun said that the footage seen during the broadcast doesn't seem that way and that the conversation was aimed to be friendly.
However, the derogatory statement of his conversation with Chaeyeon was revealed, and he mentioned the young idol being "venomous wench," or the term used could also be translated into b*tch. The exact phrase Dong Geun said is that Chaeyeon smells like "Listerine sterilized bitch," and when netizens searched the term on the internet, the term should not be told to anyone and is not appropriate for just a kidding session.
On the other hand, an official statement was released by the broadcasting station EBS saying, "We understood the seriousness of the situation, and we will be taking responsibility." The footage that caused the issue to lit up was also deleted.
Moreover, the two comedians already decided to leave the show, and not too long before, EBS also announced that they would be halting any activities regarding the show, and this aims to protect the underage casts of the show as well.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Young Soo with Spotv, he felt real wrongfully and unjustly judged by the netizens without hearing his side. After working with EBS for 13 years, Choi Young-Soo was fired.
He also shared that he met Chaeyeon, which is greatly affected by the controversy and is apologizing that his two uncles must undergo this situation because of the issue. He also mentioned that Chayeon was too hurt and that he is worried about the young Chaeyeon's wellbeing.
Despite this, netizens do not bite the bait and firmly believe that the hitting was not a form of playing around.
Viewers and fans still think that due to the age gap, where the two comedians were older than the minor idol Chaeyeon, jokes like these are not favorable. Aside from this can be considered as violence against children, this shall not be tolerated, especially the show is dedicated to youngsters, the same age to the victim.
Tok!Tok! Boni Hani will be pause for the time being, and the replacement of other staff and PDs will also be discussed.
