Hallyu Wave is still on the running and is getting more prominent as the years go by. Second Generation groups are slowly going on hiatus due to some reasons concerning their health, personal lives, male idols enlistment, and even were already having their disbandments.

Thus, new groups, the third and fourth generation groups are here to fill up the space, and here are some of those Rookie Korean group which has the potential to rise for the upcoming year.

1. Golden Child

Formed under Woolim Entertainment, Golden Child had their debut last 2017 with their track "Gol-Cha." Originally with eleven members, the group is currently consisting of 10 members due to a member's decision to leave.

Golden Child has already released three extended play, including their debut album followed by "Miracle" and "Wish" released in 2018, and one single album called "Goldenness." However, even after promoting for almost two years, there were only a few who recognized them.

And Finally, after years of waiting, netizens seem to acknowledge their talent as they bring home their first win with their title track "WANNABE" during the "M Countdown" show for the last week of December.

Fans and netizens were hoping that this could be the stepping stone of the group for popularity this upcoming year.

2.Dreamcatcher

Despite not having that much of Korean fans, due to their nightmare and metal rock music, Dreamcatcher has been robbing attention from international fans, gaining them more fans.

Their unique concepts, breaking the stereotypes of a Korean female idol going for chic and girly songs, can be their edge and disadvantage. Fans love to see preppy songs from Korean girl groups as TWICE, AOA, and Girlfriend, however, this is an edge for them as well, as the proprietor of this kind of genre.

As the years' pass, Dreamcatcher has been noticeably gaining more interest from the domestic and international market, and hopefully, 2020 will become their year.

3. ATEEZ

After debuting in 2018, ATEEZ has created its solid fan base making them one of the rookie groups who make an impact on netizens after releasing "Pirate King" and "Treasure."

With their "Treasure," they have made it to the World Album Charts, and also got a chance to have their own World Tour.

In their interview for Billboard, San, a member of ATEEZ mentioned SHINee's Taemin and EXO's Kai (both members of SUPERM) are the idols they look up to. Surely, years from now, they are going to have accomplished achievements just like their seniors.

4. Weki Meki

This year marks their second debut year, and Weki Meki has been gaining lots of interest for the past two years. After releasing their "Weme" album, they make it to the Gaon Chart, making them the highest-selling album for groups that debut in 2017.

Labeled as one of the groups which are anticipated for their refreshing songs, which have the summer vibe this year for their Tiki-Taka (99%), they were awarded as the Most Anticipated Rising Star for 2019.

Their girl crush concept, which is not limited to it, incorporated with strong visuals, vocals, and dancing skills will bring them success this 2020, which is being monitored by fans and netizens.
