Monsta X won the "World Hallyu Star Award" at the 9th Gaon Chart Music Awards held at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul on Wednesday. Before winning the award, the group proved their global popularity with a video showing their performance in the world, including the 2019 world tour.
"Thanks for today, We have won the World Hallyu Star Award," Monsta X said. "I'm so grateful for it. I don't think I would have won a single award and the awards I've received so many before without the hard work of our Monbebe. Thank you," the group said in their speech.
"I'm happy to receive an award with such a great name, but I think the modifier 'World Hallyu Star' is the first thing we can do," they said. "We were able to receive it because of the K-pop stars here and all our seniors around the world. We, Monsta X, will become a singer worthy of the world's Hallyu star," they said, expressing his future commitment. MonstaX also said, "I will confess only one thing," and "I love you, Monbebe," representing the group's warm love for his fans to the end.
In 2019, MONSTA X continued to grow globally by freely going both at home and abroad.The group released in February last year their album with the title track called "Alligator" of TAKE.2's "WE ARE HERE" and "FOLLOW: FIND YOU" later in October.
