Home of TWICE, StrayKids, GOT7, ITZY, and many more, JYP Entertainment is set to create a new girl group this upcoming November, and the members will be selected from Seasons of "Nizi Project," in partner with Sony's largest company, Sony Music.
According to JYP, "We are aiming to make a significant debut in November this year by discovering and nurturing a girl group that shines in a variety of colors like 'rainbow.'"
On the 20th, it has been announced that the "Nizi Project" will be broadcasted through a Japanese broadcasting channel, which is the Nihon TV or NTV. However, season 2 or the second half of the audition will only be aired, as the first season will going to be released through an online video platform called "Hulu" starting from January 31 and will be held every Friday t 10 p.m.
In addition to this, this project aimed to recruit Japanese trainees for the group that will be created will mainly focus on Japan. The global audition, regardless of nationality, is going to include a total of 10 cities in which eight cities from Japan, Hawaii, and Los Angeles. The first part of the audition already started last year, wherein around 10,000 applicants had participated in the September audition.
The video broadcast through the online platform will cover the process of the global audition as well as the camp training in which the trainees undergo. The training will last at about six months, and the girls will be trained for everything: dancing, singing, bodybuilding, and others.
Meanwhile, Season 2 will cover the next half of the camp training, up until the final screening, as well as the selection of the members that make it through their dream of having a debut. The passers of Season 1 are currently being trained and filmed at JYP for Season 2.
This is only the first step of Park Jin Young, the CEO of JYP Entertainment, into molding their dream of "JYP 2.0". JYP is expanding to other countries, intending to produce local singers from several countries regardless of their nationality, and release a record after undergoing the same process and training other successful JYP idol groups have done.
Because of this, Sony Music will be going to participate through the selection, training, production, and management of the anticipated group that will be debuting.
Furthermore, a teaser video was released on JYP's official YouTube channel, giving a sneak peek of the girls.
On the teaser, the applicants were dancing with their badges and number on their chests. The pressure is somehow felt through the video with the eager faces of the participants.
'Rainbow' in Japan is translated as Nizi, and this is precisely what JYP wants to produce, a group that will upgrade the color of the agency.
The broadcast of Season 1 will start this January 31, and the broadcasting for Season 2 is going to kick off this April 2020.
