On the 26th of January, TWICE member Chaeyoung expressed her anger and disbelief in their official Instagram account after she confessed that her personal information, particularly her phone number had been leaked to the public.
In her post, she said, "I've reached my limit."
"At the moment there were 11 numbers that might not mean anything, I came to the internet through one person who was not caring and disrespectful, and my cellphone was overwhelmed with all kinds of calls and texts, and I am going through with things I don't deserve."
She also talked about how these sorts of things did not only happen to her but as well as to other members of her group as well as the other groups in their agency. Recently, Straykids received several hate comments, Dahyun's personal information was leaked as well, and Momo received negative criticism after dating news with Super Junior's Heechul.
She then asked everyone to be mindful of their words and actions, for they might be blinded with their love and care for their idols, but for the other side, it causes worries, fatigue, and insecurities.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that the person who leaked Chaeyoung's personal information was the same person who was harassing other TWICE members, and has been stalking Nayeon and referring to as his girlfriend. This person has been identified as a German named Josh (as per Twitter username).
The stalker then replied to these allegations and confirmed that they did spread Chaeyoung's number through his twitter account, saying, "We spread the numbers with good intentions."
However, what angered fans is that instead of apologizing, "Josh" instead pleaded Chaeyoung to take down her post, for it causes him harm. He posted, "Please delete the post. Many fans threaten me."
Meanwhile, this stalker has been filed with criminal charges, and it's a question of how he continuously bothered the female idols and what kind of people were helping him behind to get personal information about the members.
Recently, on New Year, he booked a flight from Japan to Korea when he knew TWICE was boarding as well. He tried to approach Nayeon and even yelled at the other staff.
On the other hand, JYP released its official statement shortly after Chaeyoung's post, confirming the incident and giving warnings.
Here's a snippet of JYP Official Statement:
"Hello, this is JYPE.
We have confirmed the circumstances in which TWICE member Chaeyoung's personal information ( telephone number) has been leaked online and being distributed without permission, and there are cases where they were contacting Chaeyoung.

As an action, JYP entertainment will be conduction investigations regarding these cases. After collecting evidence, they will be taking all available measures to sue those persons involved in violating the Privacy Act.
