Idols have been given unique and personal nicknames by their fans many times before, these pet names usually describe their endearing personality and character. It's as common as having an official role in the group. However, the most common nickname category that exists in almost every group in Kpop is Tom and Jerry's dynamics.
The term refers to the American cartoon characters Tom and Jerry who are infamous for having a love and hate relationship with each other. The cartoon itself revolves around the cat and mouse's friendship and rivalry since these two animals are known to chase each one another. In this sense, the nickname: Tom and Jerry, applies to idols which often show their affection and love through back-and-forth bickering and playful teasing.

Exo-L's have claimed Chanyeol and D.O. as the group's Tom and Jerry. Their ship name Chansoo has gone viral before on social media platforms whenever they had an interaction on stage. Fan-made video edits have been circulating Twitter where they're play-fighting similarly to the cartoon characters Tom and Jerry. There was this one instance where Chanyeol poured a bottle of water down D.O.'s back and the other retaliated by doing the same, then the younger kept messing around. At the same time, the vocalist was trying to drink water, so he spat the liquid in his mouth at Chanyeol.

They also know the other on very well and use this to their advantage when revealing little tidbits of their lives during interviews and broadcasts.
5. BTS' Jungkook and Jin
BTS's eldest and youngest members are known as the group's Tom and Jerry. Their age gap of almost five years doesn't hinder their ability to play around with each other. Jin almost has a defensive and guarded reflex when it comes to Jungkook since the younger seems to be more physically stronger, but the truth is that Jin will most likely be the first one to land a punch on Jungkook.
