During Super Junior Shindong's appearance in MBC’s “Radio Star,” the 16-year old idol revealed the real reason why he started losing weight. On the 12th of February, Shindong acts as special guest MC for the show, and it was evident how he loses too much weight after months of focusing on his diet featuring his more prominent jawline, a slimmer face, and slimmer body.

For the past months, the male idol received a lot of praise due to his incredible weight loss. It was last year, October 2019, when it was reported that Shindong decided to apply to a healthy diet program, the “Juvis diet” to lose some weight.

This was due to last August 2019 as well when his schedules were put on hold due to health issues before deciding to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Fans are then happy upon his announcement and supported the idol throughout the process of his diet. His reason was for his health; however, some netizens were still doubtful about this for, during the past years, Shindong has been a victim of idol body-shaming.

The male idol who has debuted under Super Junior last 2005 has been receiving negative comments due to his weight, which doesn’t pass the Korean beauty standards. And though the standard was slowly progressing as the new era comes, there are still some who are downgrading the idol due to his visuals. Fans have been cheering up and encouraging Shindong since then, that it’s okay to embrace his own self, for there are several who loves him and accept just the way he is.

Though, during his guesting on the said show, Shindong revealed that there’s a more valid reason why he is taking his path on losing weight. The male idol then revealed that after consulting his doctor about his weight, the doctor claimed that there’s a possibility that he could die at 40 if he won’t be losing some of his weight and if he doesn’t start managing his weight. “I went to a hospital, and the doctor told me that I could die in my 40s if I didn’t start losing weight, so that left me no choice but to lose weight.

Netizens and his fans are still worried about his diet, for the male idol surprisingly loses too much weight for the short span of four months. However, he has been explaining and assuring that he was undergoing a healthy diet, which is changing his lifestyle and doesn’t include starving himself. Also, amidst his diet, make sure that he was eating three square meals a day, and even posting his cheat day through his social media accounts.

Currently, Shindong had lost 31 kilograms from weighing 116 kgs and is set to lose more to achieve his goal of 7f kilograms. Lastly, he also said that his body is average now and is away from health risks, and will work harder to maintain his physique.
