The mother of Lee Chi Hoon, member of the Ulzzang Generation and broadcast jockey who died on March 19, decided to open up and deal with the rumors about her son's passing.
On Monday, March 30, his mother posted her son's health timeline on his social media page during the week prior to his death. Ahead of the timeline, she refuted claims that her son was a Shincheonji follower, a conservative Christian religion in Korea, who was solely responsible for the COVID-19 outbreak in Daegu, or that her son passed away due to COVID‐19.
She had to remind the public about her son endlessly, "He wasn't a Shincheonji participant. He did not go abroad. He never went to Daegu. Over the last month he left this house almost two times, and the last time he left the house was only a quick moment two weeks ago. He never overlapped with the movements of a patient-reported with the virus. My son has no COVID-19 or any from my member of our household. The truth that I have is that I am absolutely safe from viruses and that I was with him 24 hours a day."
She added, "I had to utter these words too many times that merely thinking about them made my body shake in terror. It pains me too much to discuss my son's devastating week, particularly those of his acquaintances who asked and wish to know what happened, so I will address it here."
Lee Chi Hoon's mother confirmed that her son was diagnosed with otolaryngologist lymphadenitis on March 10. He began having aches throughout his body on March 14 and he was checked for influenza. They arranged a doctor's appointment to have an intravenous injection the following Monday. She said, "My son consulted a health clinic on March 17 to have COVID-19 testing. During the ride back home, his body temperature dropped and his eyes lost focus. We called 911 emergency services, out of fear."
She said, "My son was confined in an isolated area, and he was diagnosed with viral encephalitis by the doctors. On March 18, the health clinic told us that he had tested negative for COVID-19 and that he was taken to the usual emergency department, but he died unexpectedly on March 19."
She concluded her statement by saying, "His cause of death has been reported as 'septicemia-caused encephalitis.' I don't know. If it's a vision or a reality, or perhaps I'm under hypnosis, I just pray this is a vision that I can wake up quickly from."
We express our sincere condolences to the family of Lee Chi Hoon.
