As a K-pop fan, we're confident that you've dreamed of marrying your favorite artist, may he or she be younger or older than you. Some fans even say, "Age doesn't matter," if their bias is almost a decade older than them. Dating one is wishful thinking, what more if marrying your idol? But despite this wall, some fans muster their courage and propose to their beloved K-pop star to marry them.
Here are some of the idols who received a marriage proposal, and here's how they reacted as well.
1. Simon D
Recently, a fan of the South Korean hip hop artist Simon D proposed to him once again! Yes, AGAIN, as the 24-year-old fangirl already proposed to the same idol seven years ago.
In 2013, Simon D noticed a tweet from a fan saying, "Dating with someone 12 years apart is the trend nowadays." In response, the artist said, "What's this little kid saying?"
Given that her first proposal was turned down, she promised Simon to wait for her proposal again and claimed that he would regret it. Also, Simon D challenged the young fan and replied that he would want to see if to what extent she can propose. And after seven years, the same fan then proposed to him now that he's 36 years old, and just like what he said, "What's this little kid saying?" turning down the fan again. Their cute interaction is now closely monitored by fans, and wait if the fangirl will make her third proposal then.
2. EXO's Lay
In 2018, during his appearance in BUILD series, there was a segment wherein online fans were given a chance to ask the idol a question as he was promoting his album, "NAMANANA." Everything was going smoothly until a fan was asked to come to the set, as her question was a bit surprising.
The fan asked if Lay will marry her! And to know the answer personally, she was invited to come to the show. Lay was surprised with the sudden proposal as the fan said, "Lay Zhang, will you marry me?"
She also gave out options to the idol, saying, "Yes or yes? I do not take rejections, but I am open to any suggestions. Maybe like getting married later."
Despite being shocked, Lay somehow replied, "I want to be a responsible man, you know? So let me think about it seriously."
3. BTS's Jimin
The idol didn't only receive a marriage proposal, but his standee cardboard also attended a mock wedding with his superfan Oli London.
Not only did Oli propose to Jimin but the K-pop star, who seems to be a family-oriented man, replied, "I will have to ask my parents' permission first before tying the knot."
4. BLACKPINK's Jennie
During BLACKPINK's concert in Manila, Philippines, Jennie received a marriage proposal, and her reaction was too cute to handle. As she was taking a sip of her water as the other members were performing, a fan shouted, "Jenny, Marry me!" Jennie then laughed, and the fan cheered for the fan when she showed her ring finger, gesturing, "where's the ring?"
Fans then commented to the cute fan-idol interaction, and some even said they would immediately buy a ring if they were the fan.
5. Singer Young Tak
Recently, singer Young Tak, who won second place for the Korean music show "Mr. Trot," received a marriage proposal from a 14-year old fan. Young-tak received a confession from a listener who said she was a teenager on TBS FM, which aired on Saturday, asking him to wait and marry her.
Young Tak said, "By the time her friend gets married, I become fifty. I'm half a hundred years old." He then burst into laughter.
"I didn't think trot was a genre that young people would like, but it's so amazing these days," he added.
Young-tak also responded to the fan's sentiment and gave an impromptu live performance of "Jin-Ya."
Some marriage proposals might be creepy or cringy, but this is just evident how Hallyu and K-pop serves an impact on fans' lives.
