No matter how skillful and talented a K-pop idol is, one factor that netizens admire is their physical appearance. Due to this, many K-pop idols, regarding their popularity, has to maintain specific body weight. Losing weight is definitely hard, as eating after a tiring or stressful activity is hard to resist.
Thus, these K-pop female idols have to undergo severe and extreme diet to have their ideal body. According to the US Department of health, an individual needs 1,600 to 3,000 calories per day depending on your age, level of activities, and gender, and the following diet of these idols are not sufficient, not to mention their heavy loads of works and schedule in a day.
1. IU
Years ago, IU shared her extreme diet, worrying several of her fans as it was close to starving herself. As people's knowledge, IU is one of the most in-demand solo artist and actress, that's why her schedules are mostly full-packed.
She shared that she only ate an apple for breakfast, which consist of approximately 52 calories, sweet potato for lunch (86 calories) and protein shake for dinner (more or less 200 calories). She lost 4kg in a day due to her extreme diet.
2. GUGUDAN's Mina
In October of 2019, Mina revealed during her appearance in KBS' "Happy Together 4" that she had to undergo an extreme diet after watching her appearance in produce 101, where she was not satisfied with her weight. She was then traumatized by wearing short sleeves top in case she'll look chubby.
She admitted that she decided to quit eating since then and survive the whole day with just drinking two bottles of sparkling water.
3. HyunA
On April 11, HyunA posted her lunchbox, causing fans and netizens to worry about her diet plan. The lunch box was smaller than the solo artist's palm, and the box was not even full.
In the photo, her lunch consists of brown rice, chicken sausage, and vegetables. Netizens that this serving is not sufficient, given that HyunA is also doing extreme exercises lately.
4. 2AM's Changmin
The member of the group was known for having strict diets since their active years to maintain his healthy figure. The male idol undergoes a "yo-yo" effect as well, which is a term used by Shindong often, which means going back and forth to losing and gaining weight.
He shared his diet plan, and it was meals consisting of eggs and sweet potato only for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. He also tried the two tofu diet, which only consists of 152 calories.
5. BIGBANG's T.O.P
One of the most admired visuals and body built nowadays, T.O.P has to undergo a diet where he lost 20kg in just a span of 40 days before. With just water and sweet jelly made up of red beans for a day, he has to survive with these 'meal plan' only while doing heavy exercises.
6. EXO's Xiumin
During the "Growl" era, Xiumin had to undergo an extreme diet as well as he felt chubby, leading him to eat once in 2 days only. He also tried the detrimental coffee diet wherein he only drinks none other than coffee.
7. SoYou (former SISTAR member)
The singer-mentor has been known as the "summer queen" as a former member of SISTAR, where all members are known for having ideal body proportions. However, to maintain this, SoYou had to have a "one-meal" diet per day, which allowed her to take up whites of four quail eggs and a glass of milk only.
Some K-pop fans and trainees followed the meal plan of the K-pop idols as well, and according to them, it is not worth trying, especially if you are not maintaining tight body weight. It doesn't only affect one's physical health, but it can also make you mentally ill, making you feel mentally tired, irritative, and moody.
Thus, some of the K-pop idols mentioned above already left their extreme diet, and for those who are still doing it, we hope that they could enhance their food as they were perfect and beautiful as they are.
