On a YouTube Channel called "The Fact," the video wherein Choi Young Jun, one of the nation's top choreographers in South Korea, has been drawing attention following his statement about BLACKPINK's Lisa and EXO's Kai.
In the interview, he was asked who he thinks are the best dancers among the K-Pop stars, he directly answered that he has two idols in mind. "There are a lot of good dancers out there, but for me, it is EXO Kai and Blackpink Lisa." As he explained his answer, he has already worked with both idols. He found Kai an unimaginably great dancer who is passionate about dancing, so he needs to create a choreography that Kai would find attractive, which is not easy for his part.
As he went on, he also mentioned how other choreographers he knows say the same thing about the idol, and Kai's talent for dancing is just beyond his imagination, thinking that he is an idol star, not a choreographer.
For Blackpink's Lisa, she is also too talented, as Choi Young Joon recently came up with a chance to make a choreography for her, and as he expounded his answer, it was even hard for him to describe how well she dances.
To conclude his answer, the two of them can do dances to any genre, and he is grateful enough that they are not choreographers in the industry.
Furthermore, as the interview went on, Choi Young Jun shared behind-the-scenes stories of idol choreographies and personal friendships.
During the interview, Choi Young Jun was then questioned about the idol groups that he worked with in the past, such as Seventeen, Cosmic Girls, and Monsta X, explaining the choreography that features a general trend for a performance.
"For the first case of Seventeen, they are very sharp and accurate. Seeing the kid's physical strength and their synchronization until the very end of their performance is so strong. And for a break, they never rest, keeping the tension from 30 minutes to 30 seconds, and I think they did that because of discipline," he said.
"For Monsta X, they are very rough and powerful that they do their performance very well. However, the team's color itself is very tough, and they keep ongoing. I think Monsta X's choreographed songs are from the fact that they are gentle and smooth when you see their performance a lot with running. The Cosmic Girls, they are very well immersed in the music. Performing is not an easy task when you get out of breath, but with the team, they do each other well. And for IZ*ONE, some explanations won't be necessary. They are such a beautiful dance team, and are pretty dancers," he added.
Choi Young Jun received attention for his participation in choreographing popular K-pop idol groups such as Seventeen, Red Velvet, Cosmic Girls, and Shinhwa. Also, he became famous to the public as a choreographer for Mnet's survival show contestants on Produce 101 series and was a mentor and dance trainer who choreographed 'RUMOR' on Produce 48.
Choi is a well-known dancer and choreographer who focuses on every dancer he mentors strengths to tell a story on every dance composition he manages. There are also popular songs that he has helped choreographed, including "Never Ever" by GOT7, "Jealousy" by Monsta X, and "Sniper" by Shinhwa.
He also choreographed the eye-catching dance for "Pretty U," "Mansae," "Very Nice," "Adore U" by Seventeen, "Knock Knock" by Twice, "So Dangerous" and "Attention" by UP10TION, and a lot more.
Meanwhile, Choi opened the YouTube channel "Choreography Choi Young Jun" earlier this year, which received great love for up-mode dance, performances, artists, and related videos that work throughout the show.
