"Hello, everyone!

I am about to embark on a new journey.

I decided to leave my company to be free. I have finished the contract with my agency well because of the negotiation process for the fans who always support me. In previous years, I have been unable to present to you my works and performances, but I can show you all of it, more frequently, from now on.

To match my name, I'll meet you brightly and energetically on stage. Minzy!!! Above all, I will communicate more frequently with fans who have always been there to show me their undying support since the beginning of my career. Thank you so much, everyone! "

In October 2019, the Kukmin Ilbo announced that on September 25 of that year, Minzy had filed for an appeal to terminate her agreement with Music Works. She has also reportedly lodged a lawsuit against the company for 50 million won (approximately $43,000).

The court interrogated Minzy's associates and officials of the Music Works, and concluded all interrogation methods on October 18, according to the Kukmin Ilbo. The details weren't reported.

On the very same day, another media company requested a statement from Music Works. A representative from the company said, "We're currently reviewing the report's details, alleging that Gong Minzy demanded an injunction last month to terminate her exclusive agreement."

Minzy premiered with 2NE1 in 2009. She departed YG Entertainment when the group disbanded in April 2016 and agreed to sign an exclusive deal with Music Works to perform as a soloist.

MINZY RELEASES STATEMENT REGARDING DISPUTE WITH FORMER AGENCY

Following her injunction case against her company in 2019, she shared her sentiments to the public on the very same year following her appeal to the court to terminate her contract with Music Works Entertainment.

Below is the official statement of Minzy in December 2019:

"I think I'm going to have to get into a new legal disagreement with my employer, which isn't going to be quick. The company offered a minimum of four albums a year when I signed the agreement and vowed to give as much help as possible.

In the last four years, however, I have only had one album, and they have hardly supported my endeavors. The statement of accounts wasn't provided to me even for a single time, and I didn't even get paid properly of my own earnings.

Other than earnings, to be able to maintain promoting as an artist is the most significant to me. As an outcome, I wanted to settle the problem effectively by either negotiating with the company or through an injunction. Still, it didn't go well, so now I can only pursue legal action to expose the facts.

I will manage this with courage and conquer it, at least for my fans who still love me and cheering me on. I pledge to always embody diligence and self-esteem on and off the field."
