Following the "Itaewon Club" controversy of former KARA member Park Gyuri and the live performance of WINNER's Song Mino in an alleged club in Gangwon-do, netizens are discussing the reports that idols coming from top K-pop groups went to an Itaewon bar as well amidst the resurgent of coronavirus pandemic in South Korea.
According to Korean media outlets, due to the rising interests of the netizens to the personalities who were involved in the Itaewon controversy, some witnesses appeared, claiming that top idol A coming from a huge K-pop group and another male idol B visited a bar that's located in Itaewon, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
As the controversy spread throughout online communities, an alleged "Itaewon Idol Witness" posted a controversial confession on Twitter, making an online and offline buzz amongst K-pop fans and Korean netizens.
Based on the statement of the witnesses, A and B were seen going in a bar on April 25 near the controversial Itaewon Club, wherein a confirmed positive coronavirus patient has visited. Another individual who is believed to be a foreigner employee of the bar admitted that the two idols did come through a conversation with a netizen.
Furthermore, another testimony was revealed that the other idol who came is wearing a mask, went busking in an alley near the bar, and ate pizza with friends before leaving.
MK Sports, a Korean media, then reported that after getting the speculated A& B agencies, A's agency that they can't confirm it since it's the idol's private life. B's side also said, "It's impossible to confirm because it's part of their private life."
Meanwhile, on May 13, the uploader who claimed to be a witness suddenly apologized to Twitter, saying, "The content is not true," revealing the real story behind the confession.
In the handwritten apology photo, a member of the Top K-pop group *** was mentioned. An ***** member was also mentioned who rumored to have come with A idol.
The user stated, "All the articles (in question) are rumors, and I instigated them as if they were real, with the information I didn't know well."
"I'm sorry for everything about this, including spreading rumors that celebrities are living on their images, getting ridiculed and cursed over other platforms, posting as if they were real with false facts, and writing without expecting to get many retweets," the user added.
"I didn't know many people would have been affected by the post without thinking about it."
"I am sorry, and I am reflecting a lot, and I will correct the false rumors."
Meanwhile, according to quarantine authorities, the number of confirmed cases of Corona 19 from clubs in Itaewon, stood at 119 by noon.
Earlier, Park Gyuri and Song Mino made headlines after allegedly breaking the social distancing rule amidst coronavirus pandemic. They were reportedly seen visiting clubs located in Itaewon and Gangwon-do, respectively. Both agencies already released an official apology letter. However, criticisms towards the artists are still escalating.
Currently, Song Mino's case is being paid attention by the netizens as, based on the following reports, he was also a victim of fake news, and according to a witness, he didn't perform at a club, but in a guesthouse.
