A lot of people dream of a laid-back celebrity world and living, but even the brightest stars seem to feel the burden of their shadows.
In BTS's docuseries "Break The Silence," the members have opened up, as Jin called it, the "two worlds" they lead as individuals and as artists. For starters, for Suga, it implies wanting the usual pleasures and satisfactions non-celebrities fail to appreciate.
For Jungkook and J-Hope, this means balancing where they're from and who they should be. They could even drop their "work selves" and be and whomever they like to be in their available time when they leave and do work for the day.
That is not the case with BTS.
J-Hope focuses on what it was like to handle an image on and off the stage and screen in Episode 5.
"I have come to recognize who I am from standing and performing on stage and comprehending my existence, identity, and purpose," he said. "But I want to feel more relaxed off the stage, media, the public eye."
Even though BTS pride themselves in being sincere, it is anticipated that they will, at most times, fulfill specific standards as celebrities.
For J-Hope, that means being J-Hope from BTS in front of ARMY and the public in general. He said, "Part of me personally believe so, although there's a persona I have to show to the supporters and the public at large. I'm not saying I wear a mask, but I must become visually J-Hope when I'm on stage. That's perfectly evident."
"Break The Silence," as the title implies, is by far the most honest documentary series of BTS to present, exposing what emotions and thoughts the members keep hidden in their hearts and soul.
Maybe, by breaking the silence and encouraging supporters and the community to see much more of their most real self, the difference will diminish over time between who BTS is and who they are viewed to be.
Aside from J-Hope, the revelation of Suga about popularity and what it cost him can only surely make your heart melt.
Suga admitted to being jealous of people who could do everyday things, including going out with friends to eat, which he can't do anymore as he is a personality.
"I'm very jealous of other people who could go out together with their buddies to eat, travel, go to the cinema and stuff like that. Such things are essential to me since I find it very difficult to do them," he confessed.
"Most of the members are doing certain things, but not me because I don't have that many friends. It's not simple, but things still feel important to me. That's why I envy others. You win as much as you lose, and likewise. This is an ordinary loss. This was the greatest change," he added.
"What is common to others is unique to me, while what is unique to others is very normal to me. The set of standards for things changes, before you realize it. Your means of connecting and seeing the world with your beliefs. That is when the most normal things become meaningful," Suga went on.
Jin expressed similar sentiments in the previous episode, disclosing that success had cost him losing friends. He also shared thoughts regarding splitting himself into two individuals: BTS jin and Kim Seokjin.
