On June 2, fans and netizens were exhilarated upon reports of a possible debut of a new girl group this upcoming July from SM Entertainment.
This rumor sparks after Kim Hyun Yong, a financial analyst and a researcher from EBEST Investment and securities predicts and stated through media outlets a possible birth of a new girl group from SM Entertainment.
According to Mr. Kim, "SM's new girl group debut will be possible as early as July. Attention is focusing on whether SM, which produced the Girls' Generation, will once again cause a stir in 10 years."
In addition to this, Researcher Kim also talked about SM's global group NCT and said, "NCT will easily surpass 2 million albums this year, reaching the sales volume of EXO as a whole. It is being upgraded to the first group of boy groups in name and reality this year."
Despite being a mere prediction based on analyzing the data of one of the Largest Entertainment Company in Korea, fans and netizens can't help but feel the excitement, as it has been almost seven years since SM Entertainment introduced a girl group, following Red Velvet's debut in 2014.
Furthermore, a possible debut is not impossible as SM rookies, which is a group that comprises SM trainees who are ready-to-debut idols, were introduced in 2013, gaining a steady fandom base. As SM already introduced the official female SM rookies, it has been a topic among fans if when will be the debut of the new group who is also called as, "SMNGG." (SM New Girl Group)
K-pop enthusiasts are then talking about the possible members of the rookie group, who has been getting lots of attention since being officially introduced as Sm rookies and trainees, and to know more about them, here are some of them.
Hina
SM Rookie since 2015, Hina is a Korean-Japanese born in 2000. With her specialty in dancing, she made a cameo on Red Velvet's Debut song, "Happiness."

Jimin
Yoo Jimin is a 00-liner and is also rumored to debut in SM's new rookie group. According to reports, she joined SM in 2016 and could possibly become the leader, main vocalist, or visual of the group. In particular, she appeared in SHINee's Taemin 'Want' performance and MV, who captured lots of interest due to her visuals and dancing prowess.
Helen
Lee Hyejin, who is also known as Helen, was born in South Korea, but after turning four, they moved to Australia. However, Korean culture runs in the blood of the 16-year-old girl; that's why she decided to return to Korea to pursue her music career. So far, she's the youngest member introduced to fans, who just passed the audition in 2019.
On the other hand, these four trainees are just rumored members and chances that they won't debut yet. SM Entertainment confirmed that they are planning to launch a new girl group and a new boy group that is not a unit of NCT, though; there are no details of when and who are the members yet.
