On the 16th of July, SM Entertainment has released a statement confirming Red Velvet Irene's acting debut. The idol singer will star in the upcoming film, "Double Patty." The agency's representative stated that Irene would be playing the role of a news anchorwoman in the said coming-of-age film.
"The Red Velvet member Irene will star in the movie "Double Patty" and take on the role of an aspiring news anchor," the SM Entertainment official said.
Directed by Baek Seung Hwan, "Double Patty" is a movie about young people trying to grow and reach their dreams. The production team is excited to start filming this August with the hopes of releasing the film before 2020 ends.
Meanwhile, this may be the answer to Irene's acting dreams. The last time when Irene shared about her insecurities, she said that being an actress was also one of her dreams. Although the idol has starred in the 2016 webtoon-based drama, "Game Development Girls," this is the first time Irene appears on the big screen playing one of the lead roles.
