JYP Entertainment is one of the "Big 3" companies in South Korea, but, well, even the best gets rejected by celebrities, too.
While a lot of aspiring idols artists dream to kickstart their career in JYP Entertainment, some actually rejected the agency's offer! Curious to know who they are, here are some celebrities who declined JYPE and why they took different paths.
Park Bo Gum
Park Bo Gum's visual is no doubt suits the image of a K-pop idol, and it was actually his original plan. He sent multiple copies of his audition clip to different agencies, including JYPE. However, he ended up with a company who called him first and signed an acting contract with them. Nevertheless, he is one of the most sought-after actors to date.
BTS Jungkook
The maknae of the Bangtan Boys was offered to start a K-pop idol career from 7 varied agencies, and that includes JYP Entertainment. But RM gave him a cool impression, therefore, he considered Big Hit Entertainment as his label. Indeed, even if he rejected JYPE, he soared high in his career as a superstar.
Vivian Cha
Vivian Cha, a model, is one of the Korean celebrities that rejected JYPE. She was scouted by two labels, one of which is SM Entertainment, but she declined the offers. Vivian never wanted to become a singer but a model instead.
Oh Hyuk of Hyukoh
Indie rock band lead vocalist and guitarist, Oh Hyuk, revealed that he was scouted by the "Big 3" companies; YG, JYP and SM. But he rejected those proposals as he believes his music style did not match the companies'. He even can't believe why he passed the auditions.
Wooseok of UP10TION
Before debuting as a K-pop idol, he worked as a barista. Back then, he recalled that a number of entertainment agencies have contacted him and that includes JYP Entertainment. He mentioned this during an episode of Radio. However, he did not pursue those offers.
Clara
Model and actress Clara refused two entertainment companies, and one of those is JYP Entertainment. She explained that she had no intentions to debut as a singer.
CL (formerly of 2NE1)
Queen CL is a household name in the K-pop industry after for being the leader of the iconic YG Entertainment group, 2NE1. However, she started her trainee days with JYP Entertainment. Being a fan of Teddy Park who is one of the producers of YG, she left JYPE and the rest is history.
