BTS is no wonder the flag bearer of the K-pop music in the world. The Big Hit Entertainment group is tremendously gaining huge success internationally. Due to this, a Korean Professor enumerates the top reasons why BTS is achieving massive success in the K-pop industry.
Looking into the trend, BTS can be considered as having the popularity that the iconic band, "The Beatles," had during the height of their careers. Here is why Professor Choi Jae Boong, through a YouTube channel, LIVE dental hospital, explained this phenomenon.
BTS Success Comes from the ARMYS
Professor Choi mentioned that BTS did not follow a standard K-pop formula like what other artists usually do. The common practice among K-pop groups were promoting on radio stations and TV, sending them overseas for promotions, and collaborating with international stars. However, the group didn't rely on this alone. The professor believes that huge success of the Bangtan Boys mainly comes from their massive and supportive fans.
BTS Doesn't Have a Foreign Member
According to the Big 3 companies in South Korea, YG Entertainment, SM Entertainment, and JYP Entertainment, one of the rules for a successful K-pop group is to have a foreign member. Big Hit, however, did not let a foreigner joing the BTS line up. An agency official once mentioned that Bang Si Hyuk, Big Hit's CEO, looked for passionate and skillful Koreans who can connect with the local fans as its main goal for debuting.
It is noted in the many stories of the BTS members that their dreams had always been to pursue debuting from a small company.
BTS Songs Have Positive Messages
While cursing is the newest trend in today's music era, Professor Choi noted that it was the other way around for BTS. Their music spread positive messages that caught the attention of music lovers, therefore, loving the boys too. He believes that this is one of the reasons why BTS is claiming massive success even after years of debuting.
The Bangtan Boys or BTS is composed of RM, J-Hope, Jin, Jimin, Suga, Taehyung, and Jungkook. It's also the most sought-after K-pop boy band to date. Their promotions have spread globally, appearing in several international TV shows and claiming seats in various global activities such as representing the K-pop community through the online virtual graduation, "Dear Class 2020," organized by the former US President Barak Obama and wife, Michelle. They have also become global ambassadors of various brands including their latest endorsement for "Baskin and Robbin" ice cream.
BTS has always been grateful to their fans that, despite the pandemic, they managed to hold online concerts to make sure that they get to interact with the ARMYs.
