The K-Pop world was rocked and millions of fans' hearts were shaken after the controversy involving iKON's leader B.I was revealed by Dispatch. Implicated in the situation were WINNER's Lee Seung Hoon and Han Seo Hee. B.I was ultimately accused of purchasing and abusing substances and drugs including marijuana and LSD. B.I eventually surrender to a part of the charges but not all of them.
Since then, more reports have surfaced and several major repercussions have occurred, including the resignation of Yang Hyun-Suk, founder of YG Entertainment. Hours after the Dispatch article was published, B.I took to Instagram to announce his departure from the K-pop group, iKON as well as his agency, YG Entertainment.
However, the situation has taken a turn for the better as fans are getting to know about the good deeds that B.I has been anonymously involving himself in without any media coverage of the same whatsoever, indicating his sincere heart and noble intentions. He was revealed to have donated 10,000 face masks to Chinese fans in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and 50,000 face masks to fans worldwide.
Fans also shed light on his kind gesture towards one of his fans who was out in the rain without an umbrella and B.I offered his own to her instead as well as his donations to child welfare organizations. This past April, B.I also delivered 1000 masks to kids through the Angels' Haven for Children.
An official from the charity organization stated, "He started doing charity since last November. Aside from what's been in the headlines, B.I comes in whenever his schedule allows." Even before his controversy, when he was still an actively promoting member of iKON, he would set time aside specifically to do charity work for the underprivileged, spending time with children and teaching them about music.
