On October 10, Saturday, it was announced that BLACKPINK's first full-length studio album "THE ALBUM" debuted in the Top 10 of the two world's largest music markets - the United Kingdom and Germany.
BLACKPINK released their first full-length studio album "THE ALBUM" on October 2 digitally and on October 6 physically. The official UK charts announced on October 9 local time, "THE ALBUM" peaked at number two on the album charts for the week ending on October 15. Additionally, the title track of "THE ALBUM," "Lovesick Girls" debuted on the UK Official Singles Charts at number 40.
This is the highest-ever ranking for a K-pp girl group on the United Kingdom music charts, and the girls saw 5,700 cassettes sold. Previously, BLACKPINK ranked on the charts at number 40 with "Kill This Love" back in 2019.
The girl group also broke another record for being the highest-charting female Korean act in Germany, one of the world's biggest music markets. Germany's Offizielle Deutsche Charts for albums, BLACKPINK's "THE ALBUM" debuted at number seven on the charts, a feat for K-pop girl groups.
Previously, it was announced that BLACKPINK has broken the record for the highest first-week album sales for a K-pop girl group in a day. YG Entertainment had announced that, with data from Hanteo Chart, BLACKPINK had sold approximately 590,000 copies of "THE ALBUM" within the first day of its physical release. This beat out IZ*ONE's record of 389,334 copies in a day. The company added the number of album sales from the United States and Europe was not included in the total, meaning the number could be much higher.

A day before the digital drop of "THE ALBUM", it was announced that "THE ALBUM" has surpassed over one million pre-orders. Within the first six days of the opening of pre-orders, "THE ALBUM" has surpassed 800,000 units sold. BLACKPINK is the first female Korean act to achieve this feat, with the previous girl group to do so being The Pearl Sisters in 1968.

Upon the debut of "THE ALBUM", the album topped the charts in Newzealand and reached the top ten in Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Norway, and Scotland. It reached the top 20 in the Netherlands and Italy.
The music video for their title track "Lovesick Girls" amassed 10 million views on YouTube in the first hour of its release. Within the first 24 hours of its release, it garnered 61.4 million views, making it the sixth biggest 24-hour debut for a music video. It charted within the Top 50 in Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland, South Korea, and the United Kingdom.
Things don't appear to be slowing down for the girl group! On October 14, Netflix will be dropping its documentary on the girl group titled "BLACKPINK: Light Up The Sky." It will be an all-access documentary that covers the past four years of BLACKPINK's career since 2016, including never before seen footage of the girls' pre-debut life, home life, their recording process, and one-on-one interviews where the girls spill their honest thoughts and stories fans may not have heard.
