On the latest episode of "Running Mates", castmates Sunmi, EXID's Hani, Chunga, Oh My Girl's YooA, and LOONA's Chuu continued to share their inner thoughts with each other and for the viewers at home. There, Sunmi revealed the truth about her diagnosis.

Sunmi first spoke up about the Wonder Girls and how for a moment, she had to leave the group. According to Sunmi, everyone needs time to take a break if things are heard. She took her break in 2010 when she temporarily left her girl group, Wonder Girls. Sunmi stated that at the time, the pain she experienced was more heartbreaking than if her body were to be hurt.

After a three-year hiatus, Sunmi debuted as a soloist and ultimately rejoined Wonder Girls again. However, the singer revealed that she was given so much time to think, that the time she was given to think ate her away.

It was then Sunmi confessed that five years ago, in 2015, she was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.

She says, "I was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder five years ago. That is what was bothering me, but I felt relief because I got my diagnosis and am able to get treatment, and I got better after taking my medications. Still, I had to resolve the basic things, because it is the people around the person with borderline personality disorder that ends up going through a lot of difficulties."

Sunmi continued with her heartfelt confession, telling the other girls, "I think that was probably the time I really needed to take a break. To be honest, we debuted at such a young age and started our life in front of society. We spent most of our time in cars during an age where our sense of self has yet to fully form. That is why it is more important for us to look into ourselves and ask what is it we want to do, what is it we are good at. It is also important for us to prioritize our own emotions. I started realizing it a little bit after passing puberty, and I am better now. I decreased the intake of my medication. I am strong. No, I became stronger."

The day after the airing, Thursday, Dec. 17, Sunmi took to Weverse to thank her fans for the love she received. She reassures fans that she has gotten a lot healthier and that her fans are the reason she is healed.

Her post reads, "I was worried you guys might be concerned! I have become a lot healthier! To be honest, I revealed this to my Miya-ne's first, but none of you guys mentioned it...! Still, I was able to talk all about it because I felt like I had really overcome it! Thank you, Miya-ne, for watching over me during my journey of healing and walking with me step by step so I can move forward in this situation. You healed me! You are the only reason I could get through all this!"

You are an inspiration, Sunmi!
