WayV Gets Mobbed in The Airport Despite the Pandemic

On Sunday, Jan. 24, WayV arrived at Gimpo International Airport and was immediately mobbed by fans... during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The septet came from their activities in Jeju Island, returning to Seoul. Fans who had known about their arrival mobbed them at the airport, effectively disregarding safety protocols and social distancing guidelines as they stuck as close to the members as possible. Because of this, the group members saw some casualties.

In videos recorded of that day, one particular woman is seen aggressively shoving member Yangyang, invading his personal space. The idol is not seen fighting back but can be seen staring at the woman as she shows him. A staff member is seen trying to hold her back.

The situation got so intense that the alleged fans were seen falling over each other in an attempt to get closer to WayV. Man people in the mob are seen holding cameras, leading to speculation that the people who were there are WayV fan sites.

The boy group was given such little space that member Ten actually ended up falling to the ground. It was only then when fans had finally given the group some space, letting staff help Ten up quickly. The staff members helped the Ten get back up and rushed him to the car that was waiting for them.

WayZenNis and NCTzens have been begging SM Entertainment to heighten the group's security due to the number of times they have been mobbed and stalked by sasaengs. As of press time, SM Entertainment has not commented on the situation.

This is the second time this month WayV has been bothered by so-called "fans". Back on Monday, Jan. 18, the WayV members expose sasaengs who stalked their filming location, sharing photos of them through Lysn's Dear.U Bubble app.

The group was filming in an undisclosed location despite the harsh weather in South Korea. As the boys continued their filming, they were followed by a group of sasaengs who somehow found where they were filming and were taking photos of them. The members appeared to be so fed up by the situation that they expose the people who had stalked them.

Members Lucas, Xiaojun, and Kun all shared photos of the sasaengs and included messages towards them. Lucas apologized to fans for his sudden outburst, revealing that he was pissed over the situation. Xiaojun simply stated that what the sasaengs doing was extremely rude. Kun, on the other hand, revealed that the sasaengs were even taking photos of the members as they used the restroom.

In the past, both WayV and NCT have spoken up, begging saesangs to leave them alone. On live streams, saesangs have been seen calling them through their personal phones, and the members have begged them to stop. Leader Taeyong has also asked saesangs through live streams to stop appearing outside their dorms. In the past, WayV has also called out saesangs who have mobbed them at the airport.
