WINNER's Kang Seung Yoon will make his comeback as a solo artist with his very first studio album!
On Wednesday, Jan. 27, YG Entertainment announced that the male idol will be releasing his first full-length album in March. They added, "Currently, he has completed recording all the songs in the album and is preparing to record the music video for his title track next month."
Kang Seung Yoon started gearing up for his solo album after WINNER's full-group activities temporarily ceased due to the military enlistment of Kim Jin Woo and Lee Seung Hoon last year. It is said that he worked on his solo album in the midst of his busy schedule.
In particular, he has taken part in writing, composing, and producing all of the songs in his first solo studio album. Seung Yoon even participated in the production of the music video for his title track.
Kang's upcoming solo comeback was recently teased via WINNER's SNS accounts. Together with a photo that shows a silhouette of the male idol are several hashtags including "#KangSeungYoon," "#SEE_YOON_SOON," and "#202101_WEEK3." This will be his first comeback as a solo artist in eight years.

While he prepares for his first solo album last year, WINNER's Seungyoon also carried out his solo activities. In the first half of the year, he competed in MBC's singing competition show called "The King of Mask Singer." In the program, he appeared as "Chow Yun-fat" and managed to take home six consecutive wins.
Kang earned the title "122nd Mask King" after defeating Korean singer, So Chan-whee. In addition, the K-pop star was named "The First 6-Time Idol Champion" and "The Youngest Champion" at that time. After he participated in the show, he was cast in an MBC drama titled "Kairos." This marked his return as an actor after three years.
Premiered on Oct. 26, the drama is a "time-crossing fantasy thriller" that is about a man named Kim Seo Jin who falls into despair after his daughter gets kidnapped, and about a woman named Han Ae Ri who is looking for her missing mother and lives one month before the time Seo Jin is living in.

Before becoming a singer, Seung Yoon was a contestant in Mnet's 2010 singing competition, "Superstar K2," where he finished in fourth place. During that time, he launched two songs, "I'll Write You a Letter" and "Instinctively," which were both well-received in South Korea.
He went on to earn two rookie awards: "Rookie of the Year" at the Gaon Chart Awards and "Rookie of the Month (October) at the Cyworld Digital Music Awards.
In January 2011, Kang signed with YG Entertainment and after more than two years, he made his solo debut with a digital single titled "Wild and Young." He released more digital singles before participating in Mnet's "WIN: Who Is Next," where he was part of "Team A" that won in the contest. Seungyoon then debuted with a five-piece boy group called WINNER in August 2014.
