2020 had been a huge year for the K-Pop industry as more and more acts have gained so much attention because of their exemplary music and performances. BTS, BLACKPINK and TWICE even made waves in major music charts around the world.
Twitter revealed that it has recorded over 6.7 billion tweets related to K-Pop in 2020, which is said to be an all-time high record for the social media platform. It is evident that K-Pop has risen to international status as most of its entertainment content became more popular in several parts of the world.
Recently, the names of the K-Pop acts with the most mention on Twitter were revealed.
BTS
As expected, BTS, which is composed of Jin, Jimin, Jungkook, J-Hope, V, Suga, and RM, took the top spot. The popular South Korean all-boy group released two albums last year, namely: "Map of the Soul: 7" and "BE." This is one of the primary reasons why they have been the talk of the town for quite some time.
Moreover, all tracks of the two LPs have been visible in various music streaming sites and charts up to this writing. Among the most famous song of BTS are "Life Goes On" and "Dynamite."

NCT
NCT, then, followed on the second spot. The group is comprised of 23 members, namely: Jaehyun, Lucas, Taeyong, Jaemin, Jisung, Yuta Nakamoto, Mark Lee, Johnny, Doyoung, Jungwoo, Haechan, Ten, Jeno, WINWIN, Renjun, Chenle, Xiaojun, Hendry, Yangyang, Taeil, Kun, Sungchan and Shotaro.
The group released a two-part album titled "RESONANCE" in 2020. Among the tracks included in the said LPs are "Make A Wish," "Misfit," "Volcano" and "Light Bulb."
EXO
EXO, which is composed of Kai, D.O, Baekhyun, Chanyeol, Sehun, Chen, Suho, Lay, and Xiumun, came close in No. 3. Though most members are either focused on their solo activities or currently fulfilling their military duties, their hiatus did not stop their fans to continue showing their love and support.

Suho debuted his first solo album, titled "Self-Portrait," which sold more than 200,000 copies upon its released on March 30, 2020. The album peaked at No. 1 on the Gaon Album Chart. In May 2020, the idol started his military enlistment and is currently serving as a public service officer.
Baekhyun also released his "Delight" album with "Candy" being its carrier single. Lay, then, released his third studio album called "Lit," which was launched in two parts. EXO member Kai also released his self-titled mini-album last year.
BLACKPINK
BLACKPINK, which is comprised of Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosé, ranked fourth.
In 2020, the South Korean all-girl group released "THE ALBUM," which is comprised of eight songs. The group's latest LP landed them on several music charts, including Billboard, Glamour, Genius, Idolator, PopCrush, and Uproxx. They also won the Best Album (Overseas) at the 2020 Asian Pop Music Awards and Best Album (Bonsang) at the 2021 Golden Disc Awards.

GOT7
GOT7 ranks fifth. The septet's members include Park Jinyoung, Jackson Wang, Mark Tuan, JB, BamBam, Kim Yugyeom, and Choi Youngjae.
GOT7 became the talk of the town when it was announced that all the members decided to part ways from JYP Entertainment. While avid followers of the group projected that the latest move would cause their disbandment, leader JB clarified in an Instagram livestream that they remain intact.
Other K-Pop acts that were included in the list are TREASURE, SEVENTEEN, TOMORROW x TOGETHER, TWICE, and ATEEZ. The rankings were based on the data taken from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020.
