BTS Dominates the Top 5 of Billboard’s World Albums Chart + BLACKPINK Makes Appearance in the Ranks

On Mar. 17, Billboard released the ranks for their weekly World Albums Chart. To people's surprise, K-pop acts dominated the charts, with BTS taking up four spots in the top 5. Keep on reading to see which albums made the rankings!

BTS Sits at No. 1, 2, 4, and 5 on the Billboard World Albums Chart

For the Mar. 15 weekly chart, BTS dominated the top five of the Billboard World Albums Chart by occupying four spots. Sitting at number one is their Nov. 2020 release, "BE," sitting at number one for its 15th week. "BE" is BTS's fifth album to debut at the top of the Billboard 200, making BTS the fastest group since the Beatles to have five chart-topping albums in the United States.

The lead single from "BE," "Life Goes on," debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the first Korean-language song to do so.

Sitting in second place is "Map of the Soul: 7." The said album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, making it BTS's fourth album to top the charts in the United States. "Map of the Soul: 7" also solidified BTS as the first Asian group to top the charts in all of the top music markets in the world - the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, and France.

"Map of the Soul: 7" is South Korea's best-selling album in history and marked BTS as South Korea's best-selling artist.

Occupying the fourth place spot on the Billboard World Albums chart is BTS's "Love Yourself: Tear." During the time of its release, "Love Yourself: Tear" was BTS's highest-charting album in the United States at the time and was the first Korean album to top the Billboard 200 chart. By the end of 2018, "Love Yourself: Tear" was the ninth best-selling album in the United States for that year.

Finally, sitting in fifth place is the album "Love Yourself: Her." During the time of its release, the album peaked at number seven on the Billboard 200 charts. In South Korea, it debuted at number one on the Gaon Album Chart, with the title song, "DNA," debuting at number two on the Gaon Digital Chart.

BLACKPINK Occupies the No. 3 Spot on the Billboard World Albums Chart

In the middle of the top five of the World Albums Charts is BLACKPINK! Their first full-length studio album, "THE ALBUM," sits at number three.

"THE ALBUM" debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, making it the highest-charting album by a female Korean act and is the highest-charting album by a girl group since Danity Kane's "Welcome to the Dollhouse," which was released in 2008.

In that same week, BLACKPINK topped the Billboard Artist 100 chart, making them the first all-female group to do so.
