Researcher Predicts All BTS Members Will Enlist by Mid-2022

A researcher predicts that all members of BTS will be enlisting by mid-2022.

Yoo Seong Man, a researcher at Leading Investment and Securities - a capital market company, predicted through HYBE's analysis report published on April 21 that all members of BTS is expected to enlist together by the middle of 2022, and due to their plans of using pre-productions before their enlistment, the actual time that BTS will not be active is only a year compared to two.

Researcher Yoo also said that HYBE's domestic lineup of K-Pop groups such as NU'EST, Tomorrow X Together, ENHYPEN, SEVENTEEN and their only girl group, GFriend, will continue on with the mark left by other idol groups such as BIG BANG, EXO and BTS.

In addition, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato and more are now part of HYBE as well.

In this regard, HYBE also mentioned in their report contents related to BTS's military enlistment through their investment prospects.

According to the report, all members of BTS - from Jin who was born in 1992 to Jungkook who was born in 1997, will be enlisting in active duty during their mandatory military enlistment.

Among the members, Jin, who is the oldest, can postpone his enlistment until the end of 2022 under the Military Service Act.

HYBE said that in order to prepare for the risk of artist interruption and their absence due to the military enlistment, illnesses, accidents and such, HYBE will continue to increase the proportion of their indirect participation-style content. These are content that do not require direct activities from the artists such as merchandise, licensin, and video contents.

Through the use of indirect participation-style content, HYBE hopes to minimize the risk of decrease in sales due to an artist's absence. They are currently conducting various business reviews with regards to pre-production such as albums, videos and flexible artist management.

In December 2020, a partial amendment under the Military Service Act was made. Citizens who excelled in the field of sports and pop culture and arts for the purpose of advancing South Korea's national prestige are able to postpone their mandatory enlistment until the age of 30.

BTS has been in the talks with regards to whether or not they will be delaying their enlistment. However, the BTS members have said that they will enlist when they are called for.
