WJSN members Seola, EXY, Bona, and Eunseo have been confirmed as the members of the new subunit, "WJSN: The Black," set to make their debut on May 12.
Starship Entertainment first teased the new Cosmic Girls' subunit with a teaser poster last April 26, sending the K-Pop fandom into a frenzy, The black and white poster only features the words "WJSN: THE BLACK" followed by the phrase "MY ATTITUDE" and the names of its members - Seola, EXY, Bona, Eunseo - followed by the words "Coming Soon, 21.May.12."
Following materials released on the group's social networking sites confirms that their debut release will be titled "My Attitude," set for a May 12 release.
In a statement, Starship Entertainment explains that the "sophisticated and chic black background" is a nod to the subunit's concept, and has been successful in raising curiosity and excitement among the fans. Black has become a representative color that easily blends with other colors, with its associations and versatility being loved by a lot of people. In the same way, WJSN: The Black is will be bringing something mysterious and versatile, set to earn the admiration of the K-pop industry.
Since the first teaser for "WJSN: The Black," fans have been raving about the new Cosmic Girls' subunit. On their Instagram post, fans have commented that "The K-Pop industry is not ready for this" and others calling the subunit as "The Boss Unit."
WJSN: The Black is the latest subunit to debut after WJSN: Chocome. The Black's monochrome and seemingly mature concepts are in stark contrast with WJSN: Chocome being bright, colorful, and cute - a concept that the subunit members Soobin, Luda, Yeoreum, and Dayoung perfectly captured with their debut single-album "Hmph!"
