K-Pop Radar updated their monthly charts to reflect data for May. From ITZY to BLACKPINK, these are the female K-pop artists that gained the most followers on Twitter last month.
ITZY is the Female Girl Group That Gained the Most Twitter Followers in May 2021
Ranking at number one in K-Pop Radar's monthly Twitter followers chart for May is the JYP Entertainment girl group, ITZY!
The "Mafia in the Morning" singers gained 200,274 new followers from May 1 to May 30, making their end of the month total follower count to be 3,191,926.
Their rise in followers is most likely due to how active the girls were in May. Since the girls made a comeback with "Mafia in the Morning" on Apr. 30, they spent the whole of May promoting their single and their fourth mini-album, "Guess Who."
"Guess Who" is ITZY's best-selling album to date, selling 260,000 pre-order copies, surpassing their personal best record of 200,000 copies with "Not Shy." "Guess Who" debuted at the number one spot of the Gaon Retail Album Chart.
On the Gaon Weekly Album Charts, "Guess Who" debuted and peaked at number two, while it ranked at number five on the Gaon Monthly Album Chart. All songs from the mini-album entered the Gaon Download Chart.
ITZY also made headlines when it was announced that they had peaked at number 148 on the Billboard 200 charts, making them the seventh K-pop act to rank on the said charts.
Additionally, "Guess Who" peaked at number two on the Billboard US World Albums Chart and at number one on the Heatseekers Albums. The girl group ranked at number 99 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart.
BLACKPINK Ranked No. 2 on K-Pop Radar's Monthly Twitter Chart for May
Coming in second place is none other than the YG Entertainment girl group, BLACKPINK!
The quartet gained 181,907 new Twitter followers from May 1 to May 30, making their end of the month total follower count to be 4,042,084.
BLACKPINK as a whole did not have any group activities in May. However, the girls all had solo activities that helped promote the girl group.
Rosé debuted as a soloist on Mar. 12, 2021, and promoted her title track "On The Ground" both domestically and internationally. She released the music video for "Gone" on Apr. 5.
Additionally, Rosé was named the new global brand ambassador of Tiffany & Co.
Jisoo, on the other hand, showed off her influence in fashion as the cover star of Elle's June issue in four countries: India, Singapore, Thailand, and Hong Kong. The cover highlighted #DiorFall21 and #DiorVespa, making it her first collaboration project after being named the luxury fashion house's global brand ambassador.
Jennie was named the face of Calvin Klein's Spring 2021 collection, "Drop 02." The collection is a collaboration between Calvin Klein and Heron Preston.
Lisa appeared as a guest performer on Mnet's "Kingdom: Legendary War," performing "Pretty Savage" with her labelmates iKON. She is busy preparing for her solo debut.
