TWICE, TXT, and More Dominate Top 5 of Billboard World Albums Chart

On Tuesday, Jun. 22, Billboard revealed the albums that made it to World Albums charts' Top 5. Surprisingly, only K-pop albums occupied the spots. From TWICE to TXT, here are the albums that were included in the list!

TWICE, BLACKPINK the Only Female K-Pop Acts on the Top 5 of This Week's Billboard World Albums Chart Top 5

Ranking at the top of this week's (Jun. 19 to Jun. 25) Billboard World Albums chart is TWICE's most recent release, "Taste of Love." The album debuted at the top of the Billboard World Albums Chart.

Additionally, "Taste of Love" debuted at number six on the Billboard 200 chart. selling 46,000 album-equivalent units.

Of the 46,000, 3,000 came from the 5.09 million on-demand streams from "Taste of Love," while 43,000 of them were from pure sales, making it the top-selling album of that week in terms of pure sales.

The only other female act to make the top 5 of the Billboard World Albums chart is BLACKPINK's Oct. 2020 release, "THE ALBUM." The BLACKPINK album has not left the charts ever since its release back in 2020.

Upon its release, "THE ALBUM" debuted at number two on the Billboard 200. It became the highest-charting album by a female Korean act as well as the highest-charting album by a girl group since Danity Kane in 2008. That same week, BLACKPINK topped the Billboard Artist 100 chart.

Following BLACKPINK's virtual concert, "THE SHOW," "THE ALBUM," catapulted from number 148 to 59 on the Billboard 200.

TXT, BTS the Male K-Pop Acts on Top 5 of This Week's Billboard World Albums Chart

The highest-ranking male K-pop act on this week's Billboard World Albums Chart top 5 is TXT's "The Chaos Chapter: Freeze," which was released on May 31. This is its third week on the chart.

Upon its release, "The Chaos Chapter: Freeze" debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 chart, making it TXT's highest-charting album in the United States. It was also the best-selling album that week.

The album also made headlines for surpassing 700,000 stock preorders, breaking their previous record with "Minisode1: Blue Hour," which sold 400,000 stock preorders.

BTS had not one but two albums on the top five of this week's World Albums Chart. Their highest entry is "Map of the Soul:: 7" at number three.

"Map of the Soul: 7" debuted at the top of the Billboard 200, making it BTS's fourth number-one album in the United States and the highest first-weel sakes of BTS's albums in the country to days. "Map of the Soul: 7" outsold the subsequent six highest-ranking albums on the Billboard 200 combined at the time.

Released in Feb. 2020, the album was included in Billboard's top-selling albums of the year in the country, ranking at number two.

Their second album to make the top 5 is "Love Yourself: Answer," at number four. The album was initially released in Aug. 2018.

Upon the release of "Love Yourself: Answer," the BTS album debuted at the top of the Billboard 200, making it BTS's second number-one album in the United States and their second one in 2018. The album marked BTS as the first Korean album to spend one year on the Billboard 200 chart.

As of Jun. 2021, "Love Yourself: Answer" has remained on Billboard's main albums chart for 100 non-consecutive weeks. It is the first and only Korean album to achieve this feat.
