Starship Entertainment Issues Statement Regarding IVE's Hand Gesture Being Similar to EVERGLOW's

IVE has been one of the most talked about girl groups this past month, as not only are they Starship Entertainment's first girl group since Cosmic Girls, but because former IZ*ONE members Jang Won Young and Ahn Yu Jin are part of the group's lineup. With that, all eyes were on the group during their debut on December 1.

During IVE's debut, the group held a debut showcase at the Yes24 Live Hall in Seoul, where they performed songs from their debut album "ELEVEN."

However, following the showcase and press photos being released online by media outlets, IVE became a target for controversy when fans discovered that the group's hand gesture for their greetings were similar to Yuehua Entertainment's girl group, EVERGLOW, who debuted back in 2019.

In the photos, it can be seen that both groups use their right hand and holding up three fingers to make the letter "E," while placing them right by their face.

One netizen had commented that they thought IVE was EVERGLOW at first glance due to both groups having the same hand gesture and number of members.

Others have also come to the group's defense, stating that having similar hand gestures are inevitable as what we can do with our hands are limited in this case.
