On January 27, SMTOWN's winter album, "2021 Winter SMTOWN: SMCU EXPRESS," released on December 27, 2021, took first place on the Gaon Weekly Album Chart. This achievement confirms SMTOWN's brand power once again.

This album is an SMTOWN winter album released for the first time in about 10 years since 2011.

Moreover, it also recorded the highest sales of SMTOWN albums by exceeding 410,000 albums in just eight days of release.

The "2021 Winter SMTOWN: SMCU EXPRESS" album features artists from SM Entertainment such as Kangta, BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, Girls' Generation-Oh!GG, SHINee Onew, Key, Minho, EXO Kai, Red Velvet, NCT, and aespa are featured. It contains a total of 10 songs with colorful charms in which the artists exuded.

SM Entertainment to Stream 'SMTOWN LIVE 2022: SMCU EXPRESS @ Kwangya'

SM Entertainment will stream its New Year concert "SMTOWN Live 2022: SMCU Express @ Kwangya" one more time on January 29, the K-pop powerhouse announced on January 24.

"SMTOWN Live 2022: SMCU Express @ Kwangya," which was successfully streamed last January 1, will have another run on the said date at 3 PM (KST) on SM's online global concert streaming platform Beyond LIVE and also on LG U+'s Idol Live website and app.

The original broadcast garnered more than 51 million YouTube views in 179 regions around the world.

Since 2008, SM Entertainment has been annually hosting a concert on the first day of the year.

Aside from that, SM's newly-launched female super-group GOT the beat - comprised of BoA; Taeyeon and Hyoyeon of Girls' Generation; Seulgi and Wendy of Red Velvet and Karina and Winter of aespa - had also performed its song "Step Back" for the first time during "SMTOWN Live 2022: SMCU Express @ Kwangya" on January 1.

SM Entertainment Signs Industry-Academic Cooperation with Chungkang University

On January 26, SM Entertainment and Chungkang University signed industry-academic cooperation to strengthen the competitiveness of the metaverse and cultural content industries at SM's new headquarters in Seongsu, with SM co-CEOs Lee Seong-su and Tak Young-Joon and Chungkang University president Hwang Bong-Seong.

Through this industry-academic cooperation, SM Entertainment and Chungkang University jointly plan and collaborate on programs necessary for the composition and operation of metaverse-related content.

They also plan to nurture and educate talents necessary for the development of the cultural content industry and jointly utilize facilities and resources for mutual development and cooperative project. They wanted to proceed with the development as soon as possible.

The collaboration between the two companies is expected to strengthen the educational curriculum related to content creation and provide students with a variety of experiences.
