BLACKPINK Breaks Record With THIS Song After Hitting 1.8 Billion Views

BLACKPINK is on a roll! The four-member group just broke another record on YouTube after one of their videos hit 1.8 million views!

On February 5, BLACKPINK's hit "DDU-DU-DDU-DU" hit the massive mark. But this number is not only huge; it's also something that no other female K-pop group has ever achieved in the past decade.

In 2012, PSY's iconic hit "Gangnam Style" music video also garnered the same amount of views on YouTube.

BLACKPINK Awards, Recognitions Revisited

However, the first to fame of "DDU-DU-DDU-DU" did not happen overnight. BLACKPINK first released the single on June 15, 2018. Thanks to their fans, the track has now been named as the most viewed music video of the quartet.

BLACKPINK also received a slew of other recognitions throughout the years. In July 2020, the four-female group also broke multiple records with their hit song, "How You Like That."

Within 24 hours after its release, "How You Like That" became the second biggest song worldwide on Spotify with over 4.8 million streams. BLACKPINK also managed to beat BTS and Ariana Grande at the time.

If this isn't enough, BLACKPINK also bagged multiple Guinness World Records in on June 30, 2020 for Most Viewed YouTube Video in 24 Hours, Most Viewed Music Video on YouTube in 24 hours, and Most Viewed YouTube Music Video in 24 Hours by a Kpop group.

BLACKPINK has also collaborated with a slew of Western artists and have consequently broken records every time. The group's collaboration with Lady Gaga on the song "Sour Candy" immediately entered the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

"Kill This Love" is also one of the group's biggest hits. Following its release on April 15, 2019, it landed on the No. 3 spot on iTunes, making them the first ever Kpop girl group to enter the platform's top 5.

How It All Started For BLACKPINK

Fans of BLACKPINK know that their journey to success did not happen in a snap. In fact, each of the members have been trying their luck in the industry for years before their group was finally launched in six years ago.

At the time, their management, YG Entertainment held tryouts for preteen and teenagers so that they could create a new girl group. YG Entertainment was also behind the success of 2NE1.

Jennie was the first BLACKPINK member to train under YG Entertainment. Even though she's from South Korea, Jennie and her entire family relocated to New Zealand when she was just 10 years old. Her family planned to move to the United States four years later, but she told her mom that she wanted to return to South Korea to pursue her music career.

Lisa was born and raised in Thailand and this was also where she attended an audition at YG Entertainment. Thousands of teenagers showcased their skills, but Lisa was the only one that passed. She later relocated to South Korea and learned how to speak Korean so that she can perform songs with BLACKPINK.

Jisoo became part of YG Entertainment in July 2011. While attending a concert, SM Entertainment scouted Jisoo but she refused to work with the company. Instead, she stayed with YG Entertainment and was named as the lead vocalist for BLACKPINK.

Rosé joined YG Entertainment in 2012. She was raised in Australia, where she also auditioned after the management announced that they would be having a casting call. Other than her music career, Rose is also an actress.
