The first week of February 2022 has come to an end and several K-pop artists like NCT Mark and DAY6 Wonpil had new offers to the fans when it comes to music. This week also saw a few shocking news, including those that involve BIGBANG and BTS Jimin.

HyunA and DAWN's Engagement

It was just three days since February entered but K-pop fans already received surprising news from celebrity couple HyunA and DAWN. The two P Nation artists indirectly announced that they are now engaged.

On Instagram, DAWN uploaded a video and a few photos of himself and HyunA wearing matching ring sets and captioned it with "MARRY ME." HyunA posted the same video and wrote in the caption, "Of course it's a Yes."

The couple have been dating since 2016 but their relationship was only made public in 2018.

One of the new K-pop songs this February 2022 is NCT Mark's "Child" that was officially released on Feb. 4. The track serves as the opening to SM STATION's "NCT LAB" project, which will let the NCT members drop their own original work.

Given that, Mark is credited as a lyricist and composer of "Child," which reveals the singer's honest views as he reflects on himself.

"Child" immediately soared to the top of multiple Korean real-time music charts like Bugs and VIBE. It also rose to No. 1 on iTunes Song charts in at least 14 different regions as of 11 a.m. KST on Feb. 15.

BTS Jimin Checks Out of Hospital After Surgery and COVID-19 Recovery

On Feb. 5, Big Hit released an official statement to give an update regarding BTS Jimin who was rushed to the emergency room on Jan. 31 after experiencing abdominal pain and mild sore throat.

The label said that Jimin had been discharged from the hospital after recovering from COVID-19 and getting enough rest following his surgery.

BIGBANG Comeback After 4 Years of Hiatus

YG Entertainment surprised VIPs on Feb. 7 when the agency announced that BIGBANG's comeback is set to take place this spring with a new song. They added that the quartet has finished recording the track and is gearing up to film the music video.

The song will mark as BIGBANG's first music release in four years since the group dropped the single "Flower Road." It will also be their first release as a four-member group as Seungri withdrew from the band and retired from the entertainment industry in 2019 due to his involvement in the infamous "Burning Sun" scandal.

Along with the announcement of BIGBANG's comeback, YG Entertainment also revealed that band member T.O.P will leave the company after 16 years.

The label explained that T.O.P's exclusive contract with them has ended and he will take on an array of new challenges as both a singer and an entrepreneur. Despite T.O.P leaving YG, he will remain a BIGBANG member and will participate in group activities whenever he is able.

Following his departure from YG Entertainment, BIGBANG T.O.P let fans know what he was feeling. He posted the texts "HAPPY" and "I'm so HAPPY" on his Instagram stories.

DAY6 Wonpil's "Voiceless"

DAY6 Wonpil dropped his first solo album on Feb. 7 after six years and five months of debuting under JYP Entertainment. Titled "Pilmography," the album is made up of nine total songs.

Of the nine tracks, the ballad song "Voiceless" serves as the title track of Wonpil's solo album. The DAY6 member wrote the lyrics alongside his bandmate Young K and co-composed it with Hong Ji Sang.

DAY6 Wonpil's "Voiceless" is about a heartbreaking story of ending a relationship to reduce the pain that the other half is experiencing.

VIXX Ravi's "WINNER" (featuring ASH ISLAND)

One of the latest K-pop song released this first week of February 2022 is VIXX Ravi's "WINNER" (featuring ASH ISLAND), which came out on Feb. 8.

"WINNER" is the title song of Ravi's second LP "LOVE&FIGHT." The VIXX member composed and wrote the lyrics for the track together with ASH ISLAND. The lyrics are about losing everything in terms of love.
