Xbox One Used Game And Online Connectivity Features Disturbed Fans; Confusion Clarified By Microsoft

Xbox One will not need a persistent online connection, though users will be required to check in to validate their games.

Microsoft shared details about its upcoming video game console, the Xbox One. This is after issues and concerns about its internet connectivity feature as well as used game policy came out and stirred some buzz amongst fans and video game players.

According to Microsoft through a series of post they shared in Xbox Wire, Xbox One will not need to be always connected to the internet. The company explained that is a user is playing from their own game consoles; they would have to check-in once every 24 hours of playtime. Moreover, if one is playing from a different Xbox One using their own login profile, then, the check in will have to be once every hour.

"Xbox One is designed to verify if system, application or game updates are needed and to see if you have acquired new games, or resold, traded in, or given your game to a friend," told Microsoft Studios

Microsoft also clarified that the physical Xbox One titles will launch the same day with its digital form and players can access these games easily on any Xbox One console through the cloud system. The players can also create a group with up to ten members to explore a library of shared games and play any title they choose from it using any game console.

With older titles, Microsoft shared that players have the freedom to resell or trade them in through participating game retailers without any payment needed. The game studios stated, "In our role as a game publisher, Microsoft Studios will enable you to give your games to friends or trade in your Xbox One games at participating retailers. Third party publishers may opt in or out of supporting game resale and may set up business terms or transfer fees with retailers." However, there are limitations involved when lending games as users can only offer their active Xbox Live friends a one-time gift of a chosen game. Microsoft Studios will most probably share more details about Xbox One during the highly-anticipated E3 event coming next week.
