What Records Did BTS V Break?

On Thursday, Feb. 17, BTS V officially became the first K-pop idol to surpass 6 million followers on Spotify.

He also became the only Korean soloist to make it to the top 5 without an official solo debut album or mixtape.

But BTS V managed to make it to the top of Spotify with three of the songs that he sang as part of an OST.

These are "Christmas Tree," "It's Definitely You," and "Sweet Night."

The other K-pop idols that are part of the top 5 most followed artists on Spotify include J-Hope with over 9 million followers, BTS RM with over 8 million followers, AgustD (BTS Suga) with over 7 million followers, IU with over 6.4 million followers, and BTS V with over 6 million followers.

When Will BTS V's Mixtape be Released?

In May 2021, BTS V opened up about the forthcoming release of his mixtape. At the time, he said that the project could be released sometime at the end of the year.

But in December 2021, BTS V dropped a teaser for "KTH1," but he still hasn't released his highly-anticipated mixtape.

There's so much work that goes into releasing albums, and it's possible that BTS V wants his debut solo project to be perfect that's why he's biding his time.

During his interview with Rolling Stone, he said that he's involved in every aspect of his mixtape. Not only does he write the lyrics of his songs, he's also involved when it comes to the production, and more.

But even if it's tough, BTS V also said that he's grateful for the opportunity to showcase himself as a K-pop artist.

BTS V also talked about the delays in releasing his mixtape. After all, the original plan was for it to debut in 2020. He said that the release plans turned out to be much harder and more complex that's why the delays became inevitable.

In fact, in early 2021, he also thought that his mixtape would be ready for release, but it was once again postponed.

In December 2021, a clip of BTS V driving a convertible in Hawaii was released on Twitter. Fans were convinced that the clip is part of the artist's mixtape.

But since then, he has not given that many updates about his mixtape.

BTS V Has Been Recording OSTs

It is important to note that BTS V has a very busy schedule.

Before he could even release his mixtape, he already recorded a slew of songs for various K-dramas.

Two months ago, he released a solo OST track for "Our Beloved Summer," which stars Choi Woo Sik and Kim Da Mi.

During his birthday in 2020, he also released his collaboration with Peakboy on "Snow Flower."
