Disneyland 2013 Update: Shanghai Disneyland Will Launch In 2015 And ‘Look, Feel, Resemble China,’ Says Disney CEO [VIDEO]

Disneyland 2013 update: Disneyland will be coming to Shanghai, China in 2015, and Walt Disney Co. Chairman and Chief Executive Rober Iger revealed that the brand new Disneyland will "look, feel, resemble China's Disneyland."

Shanghai Disneyland, which is currently still under construction, will be completed in two years, by the end of 2015. According to Disney CEO Iger, there will be a balance between unique modern Chinese elements and "things that are Disney."

Disneyland in 2013 has been experiencing ticket price hikes and also recent Disneyland explosions where one employee was arrested in the United States.

Regarding Disneyland's expansion into China, Iger said at an annual conference on Thursday, saying "In terms of Chinese elements, we feel it is important to balance China and Disney, not America, because the brand of Disney is global."

Iger further said that the Shanghai Disneyland will still have things that are unique to Disney, as they are well-liked among the Chinese. Iger said, "We don't want to deprive them of that."

In transforming Disneyland into a unique Chinese theme park, Iger said the Shanghai Disneyland "can't be the Disneyland that Walt built in 1955 for all kinds of reasons.... It has to look, feel, resemble China's Disneyland. And that has taken a lot of thought, a lot of work."

Iger also said the Shanghai Disneyland's new attractions will be so unique and different to other Disney theme parks from other parts of the world that "it will be almost exclusive."

Especially for the entertainment aspects of the Shanghai Disneyland, the theme park will be very Chinese in nature, "because [the shows] will be performed by Chinese people, and designed, directed and created by artists from China."

Disney is expecting a lot of excitement from the Chinese public for the theme park, as Iger said, "When Shanghai Disneyland opens, I think many more people from China will be interested in coming than we expected when we first decided to build it there."
