JYP Entertainment Criticized for Releasing TWICE 'III' Seoul Tour DVD Set — Here's Why

JYP Entertainment Criticized for Releasing TWICE 'III' Seoul Tour DVD Set

On April 26, JYP Entertainment took to TWICE's official Twitter account to announce the release of a DVD and Blu-Ray set of the group's Seoul concerts for their fourth world tour, "III." The announcement included the inclusions of the set, such as the discs, a photobook, a photocard set, a unit polaroid set, mini-posters, and more.

Pre-orders for the DVD and Blu-Ray are scheduled to start on April 29, 2022 (Friday).

After the announcement, people expressed their dissatisfaction with the release. However, the reason ONCEs are upset is not because JYP Entertainment is planning to profit further with TWICE. Instead, people are upset that JYP Entertainment selected the Seoul dates for the DVD set.

This is because Jeongyeon was not part of the Seoul concerts. Additionally, South Korea placed a ban on cheering during live events during the shows. Because of that, the crowd is quiet except for some clapping.

On December 21, 2021, it was announced that Jeongyeon would not participate in TWICE's Seoul concerts (December 25 and 26). At the time, it was stated that her participation in the rest of the tour was still in discussion, but Jeongyeon ultimately joined TWICE for the United States and Japan leg of the tour.

ONCEs expressed anger over JYP Entertainment's decision to release a DVD set of the Seoul concerts, as a member is entirely left out. While some believe JYP Entertainment will include Jeongyeon through images and b-rolls, many stated this is not enough. Others say that it is wrong for JYP Entertainment to release a product with just eight members when TWICE is nine.

Others say that the DVD set will be boring since no cheering or shouting will be heard. There will also be no fan chants, and TWICE will be seen speaking to an audience that cannot respond.

However, many speculate that JYP Entertainment will release separate DVD sets for the United States concerts and Japan concerts, which will include Jeongyeon.

TWICE performed a three-day concert at the Tokyo Dome from April 23 to 25 as part of their "III" world tour.
