'The Killing' Preview: Seventeen' Narrows Down The Suspects In Homeless Teen Serial Murders

After last Sunday's season premiere, "The Killing" is resurrected and back with a vengeance, with tonight's episode "Seventeen" set to continue the new murder investigation.

Episode three follows Detective Holder (Joel Kinnaman) and Sarah Linden (Mireille Enos) as they try to discover the truth behind a series of murders and disappearances related to homeless teens that is somehow tied to one of Linden's old case.

The episode synopsis reads, "Sarah has her own reasons to join the task force. Holder finds a new street informant. Seward strokes an old rivalry."

Fans and bloggers alike are speculating that Ray Seward, the prisoner set to be executed for Linden's old case which links to the current serial murders, are not all he's made of to be.

"In that atmosphere, if you are not built like Vin Diesel, you've got to find a way to make somebody who looks like Vin Diesel fear you," opined actor Peter Sarsgaard who plays Seward.

"There's the person we wish we were, the person we pretend to be, and then there's the person that you really are."

According to TVGuide, show creator Veena Sud drew inspiration for the character from the Werner Herzog documentary "Into the Abyss," which depicted two teens who killed three people during an attempted car theft.

"They had no sense of regret," she noted.

"I was fascinated by this idea of a bad guy who really is a bad guy. Ray Seward is not a 'Green Mile' type of con. He's not a guy in prison with a heart of gold. He's the guy that you and I are scared of if we meet him in a dark alley. He's done terrible, horrible things. That type of dark character searching for redemption - or resisting redemption - was really, really interesting to me."

For now, Linden is convinced something is amiss with her old case and that another killer who has been slaughtering homeless teens is responsible for her original obsession.

Tune in Sunday to find out if she is right.
