The former star-crossed love interests for "Boy Meets World," Danielle Fisher, who played Topango on the original show, and Ben Savage's protagonist Cory Matthews, reunited to film the pilot episode for "Girl Meets World."

Danielle Fischer, who has recently sizzled in a spread for Maxim Magazine, inherited her old role of Topango to help film the pilot ofr the upcoming "Girl Meets World" which is a sequel to ABC's long-running TGIF sitcom "Boy Meets World."

Fischer and her co-star in "Boy Meets World," Ben Savage as Cory Matthews, will play the parents of the new show's star, Riley Matthews, played by Rowan Blanchard.

Topanga and Cory Matthews will play Riley's parents in the upcoming show and old cast members from "Boy Meets World," which aried from 1993-2000, will reprise their old roles.

Fischer and Savage spoke with reporters at the second annual ATX Television festival in Austin Texas on Friday, and Danielle told the audience she and Savage fell right back into their old ways the moment they saw each other on set:

"Reuniting with Ben has been even better than I could've possibly imagine it was going to be.The minute we walked into rehearsal, Ben was Cory[Matthews] and I was Topanga, and we were together and it was like no time had passed."

Danielle Fischer and Ben Savage aren't dating in real life though. Fischer is engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Tim Belusko, but she couldn't help but feel a special kinship with the actor who was her love interest for seven years on ABC.

"There is something so special about the bond we share," she said. "I always tell people -- it seems a little weird -- but it does feel like [Ben] is my husband. He will always be my first husband."

For his part, Savage is just as stoked to be back with Fischer and her Topanga character.

Ben showed up at the festival along with original "Boy Meets World" stars Rider Strong, Matthew Lawrence, Maitland Ward, series creator Michael Jacobs and mentioned the former show's penultimate scene saying "goodbye."

"It was almost like saying goodbye to our childhood. It's hard for me to even watch that scene. That was kind of like the end of our childhood. It wasn't just the end of our show. For us personally, it really meant a lot.

Added Cory Matthews' best friend, played by Rider Strong (who is also returning for "Girl Meets World"), "We did that last scene in one take because we were all just wrecked. It was our last scene in front of an audience. It was so close to home that there was no filter between Shawn and Rider at that point. It was the same person freaking out."

The pilot for "Girl Meets World" was filmed in March and is awaiting pickup.
