Soyeon Reveals Real Feelings After Soojin Left (G)I-DLE – Here's What She Said

Soyeon, the leader of the girl group (G)I-DLE drew the attention of fans as she opened up about her feelings when Soojin left the team, and finally re-organized as a quintet.

On May 30, Jeon Soyeon appeared as an inspiration mate of WINNER on JTBC's "Artist Way." In the broadcast, the female star met her senior idols Kang Seungyoon, Kim Jinwoo, Lee Seung Hoon, and Song Mino on the cloud bridge of Daedunsan Mountain.

On the same day, Seungyoon, and Soyeon were seen driving a car to go to the grocery store and amid the trip, the "REALLY REALLY" singer created a friendly atmosphere by claiming to be a fan of (G)I-DLE since 2020.

Kang Seungyoon can't contain his excitement and said:

"She's a singer that I personally admire so much. I really wanted to meet you, but I'm meeting you here again like this."

Seungyoon continued to praise the star and revealed some of the reasons why he decided to look closely at his junior.

"I think Soyeon also made her name known through (a survival show), Mnet's 'Produce 101' before her debut?

When I debuted, I thought the role of leading the group as a leader was very cool. I end up talking a lot in interviews and stuff.

[...] I liked (G)I-DLE since their debut. I thought, 'Is it possible to make things like this from the moment they debut?' I may have been more interested in watching (you) more because I thought (we) were in a similar situation."

In particular, just like Soyeon, Kang Seungyoon also made his name after going through Mnet's "Superstar K2" in 2010, before debuting in 2014 as WINNER.

When they debuted, both Soyeon and Seungyoon played the central role of becoming the leaders of their respective groups. Both were also responsible for making music for their teams as producers and songwriters.

As their trip to the grocery store became longer, the idols' conversation became deeper as well.

In regards to having similarities, Soyeon agreed and said:

"We actually went through some big change last year."

This statement was in reference to how both groups underwent group reorganization after a group member left.

Just then, Jeon Soyeon indirectly expressed her true feelings after the reorganization since Soojin left due to her school bullying controversy.

"(Soyeon went through a tough time before the comeback) I had this thought then that 'If a member leaves the team, wouldn't the team be ruined?' I always had this prejudice."

But thanks to WINNER, Soyeon expressed how their existence allowed her to trust that everything will go well.

Kang Seungyoon the comforted the "TOMBOY" singer, saying:

"You did a great job during this promotion. So I felt like really happy with my fellow artist and want to congratulate you from the bottom of my heart."

Jeon replied:

"Thankfully (the promotion went well), I'm really grateful (to you)."

Meanwhile, Kang Seungyoon, who debuted as the group's WINNER leader in 2014 had long hiatus after Nam Tae Hyun, a member, left in 2016 due to health issues.

For Kang Seungyoon, the crisis was an opportunity and a driving force for growth.

He worked hard on the song despite the difficult time and completed a high level of the self-composed song, "REALLY REALLY" the title song of their comeback single, "FATE NUMBER FOR."

When they made their comeback in 2017, it topped all music charts shortly after its release leading to the record success of the four-member group, WINNER.

As for (G)I-DLE, the group that established its popularity since its debut in 2018 faced a crisis when Soojin was accused of school bullying that forced the team to have temporary hiatus. In 2021, Soojin left both the group and Cube Entertainment, leaving no choice for (G)I-DLE but to re-organize as a five-member team.

While there are doubts that they will not last long, their first full-length album "I NEVER DIE" released in March 2022 as well as its title song, "TOMBOY" swept the top of domestic and international music charts, proving the robustness of (G)I-DLE.
