5 K-pop Groups With Majority of Members Who Are Foreigners

These five K-pop groups have more foreign members than Korean members. From (G)I-DLE to NCT, read on to see the full list below!

1. (G)I-DLE

When (G)I-DLE first debuted, there was an equal number of Korean and foreign members. However, following Soojin's withdrawal from the group on August 14, 2021, (G)I-DLE was left with two Korean members and three foreign members.

Minnie hails from Thailand and is the only member from Southeast Asia. She came to South Korea in 2015 and trained for four years before making her debut.

Yuqi is from Beijing, China. She auditioned for CUBE Entertainment in 2014 and trained for four years before making her debut.

Shuhua is from Taiwan. She auditioned for CUBE Entertainment in 2016 and entered the company that same year. She trained for three years.

2. NCT

NCT has 23 members, and a large number of them are foreigners.

The majority of the foreigners are from China. The Chinese members of the group are Kun, Winwin, Lucas, Xiaojun, Hendery, Renjun, Yangyang, and Chenle.

There are two Japanese members, namely Yuta and Shotaro.

Ten hails from Thailand and is the only member from Southeast Asia.

Though ethnically Korean, Mark hails from Canada, while Johnny is from the United States.

With that, there are 13 foreign members and ten Korean members.

3. PRISMA

PRISMA is a five-member girl group, with three members being foreigners and two being Korean.

Sally is American-Chinese and was born in California, United States. Before debuting with PRISMA, she trained in a company in Beijing.

Nia is from Valencia, Spain. She is the first female Spanish K-pop idol.

Miriam was born in Caserta, Italy, and has lived in Novara and Milan. She is the first Italian female K-pop idol.

4. BLACKSWAN

With the recent addition of two foreign members, BLACKSWAN became a group with four foreign members and two Koreans.

Fatou was born in Yoff, Senegal, but grew up in Tienen/Tirlemont, Belgium. She is the first Senegalese K-pop idol.

Leia is Brazilian-Japanese and was born in Curitiba, Parana, Brazil. Her mother is Brazilian, while her father is Japanese. Before debuting with Black Swan, she was a trainee under PLEDIS Entertainment and trained with PRISTIN.

Gabi is Brazilian-Dutch and was born in Florianopolis, Brazil. She joined Black Swan on May 26, 2022.

Sriya is Indian and was born in Odisha, India. She is the first Indian idol in the K-pop industry.

5. KAACHI

KAACHI is a controversial group on the list, with many debating if they are K-pop or not. However, the group insists that they are K-pop and was added to this list with that in mind.

Nicole is Spanish and was born in Merida, Venezuela. She was raised in Tenerife, Canary Islands, before moving to London in 2011.

Chunseo is Spanish-Filipina. She was born in Valencia, Spain, and moved to London in 2014. Her mother is Filipina, while her father is Spanish.
