Sorn Hints at Real Reason CLC Disbanded + Reveals Mistreatment Under Cube

During an interview, Thai-K-pop idol Sorn opened up about the real reason CLC parted ways and how the group's agency Cube Entertainment contributed to that.

On June 10, former CLC Sorn sat down for an interview with the YouTube channel ป๋าเต็ด. During the show, the idol revealed never-been-heard stories about the group including the factors that led to their disbandment after seven years.

Sorn Shares Why CLC Decided to Disband

On May 20, Cube Entertainment first announced the disbandment of CLC. On its official statement posted on the group's fan community, the company said:

"We sincerely thank the fans for their constant love and support for CLC over the past seven years. CLC's activities have officially ended."

Adding:

"We would like to express our deep gratitude once again for the love and support you have sent to CLC, and we will sincerely support the future of the seven members who have made a new start on their respective paths."

Meanwhile, CLC has gained popularity with songs such as "Hobgoblin" and "Helicopter" since its debut in 2015.

Although fans are extremely sad and heartbroken about the dissolution of the team, some people anticipated it already due to members' departure from Cube Entertainment prior to disbandment including Elkie, Sorn, Yeeun and Seungyeon.

However, during the recent broadcast, Sorn explained that the real reason for the group's breakup was actually due to Cube's new plan for the group.

Ahead of their seventh year and contract renewal, Sorn revealed that the team talked to their company about their desire to continue promoting as a septet.

But Cube wants them to promote individually as solo artists. As the members did not see any reason to stay with the company if they were not going to be promoted as a group, this eventually led to them pursuing different paths.

Sorn's statement also matches her former co-member and now Kep1er Yujin's initial statement during Mnet's "Girls Planet 999" broadcast in August 2021 that she has been told that:

"CLC will no longer be having group activities."

Sorn Confesses Mistreatment Under Cube

In the same broadcast, Sorn also opened up about the struggles and difficulties she experienced under her former agency since her training period to her debut.

After winning a contest that won her a contract with Cube, Sorn shared that the company didn't support her studies and urged her to train more.

Eventually, she dropped out of school to focus on her journey as an idol aspirant, but her training life wasn't comfortable. Aside from the pressure and concern of being kicked out any moment, they were also not given a good environment and a place to rest.

The mistreatment continues even after their debut.

Sorn talked about not having the freedom to give any idea or opinion about CLC's concept. As a result, they were "forced" to follow what the company wants them to do not only for song and dance but even their outfits.
