Amid the announcement that they will be taking a break as a group, BTS revealed the struggles they suffered from being globally famous and the restrictions in the K-pop idol system. On the same day, they hinted at the directions they want to pursue, respectively.

BTS Talks About Struggles As Popular Group + How Idol K-pop System Hinders Personal Growth

"I don't know what kind of team we are."

On this day, the members honestly confessed the numerous worries that they had experienced amid their heyday as the "biggest boy group in the world."

First, RM said that he used COVID-19 as an excuse for the change in their team's direction, but he confessed that BTS was having a hard time defining their identity.

"I didn't know what kind of team we were. The lyrics and what kind of stories and what kind of messages I say are important and meaningful in life, but it feels like that's gone. I didn't know what to talk about."

Jimin, later on, agreed to this and added the reason they want to pursue solo directions:

"Now I'm thinking about what kind of singers we want to stay with our fans, so I think we're going through a bit of a hard time. I think it's time to find out more about my identity, so I think there's a little delay and it takes a little time."

RM explained:

"To say I'm tired itself seems like I'm committing a crime."

Suga, who produced multiple songs for the team also confessed that he had a lot of musical worries during their uninterrupted activities.

"The most difficult thing is to write lyrics. It's really not coming out. I have nothing to say. I had to talk about what I felt and wanted to talk about, but it was squeezing me out. Anyway, I feel like I have to satisfy someone."

At that time, RM also seriously discussed how the idol system is restricting their growth individually.

"The problem is neither K-pop nor the idol system seems to allow people to mature. I have to keep filming something and keep doing it, so I don't have time to grow up.

As a human being, I should have changed a lot from 10 years ago, and I have to become mature and come out as myself, but looking back, I can't mature as a person after 10 years because of our physical schedule. I don't know what it is, but it doesn't give me a chance to keep doing something."

The leader of the group also added that he always worries about BTS's future and conveyed that he has the fear of not meeting fans' expectations. While he used to do things for himself and the group at the same time before, he confessed that he can't do it now. Thus, one of the reasons he decided to take a short break from his group activities.

RM also said that his initial and upcoming mixtape will also be changed into a solo album.

Following J-Hope and RM, there was also a story that the members, including Jimin and Suga, V, and Jungkook were also preparing their own contents.

Lastly, Jin, the eldest member of the group expressed his desire to pursue a career in the acting industry as an actor.
