Kang Daniel Issues Apology for Alleged Sexist Remarks About 'Street Woman Fighter'
On July 20, Kang Daniel became entangled in criticism after his recent remarks about the Mnet dance competition program "Street Woman Fighter," which he was a host for.
While talking about Mnet's upcoming new program and the male version of the aforementioned show "Street Man Fighter," in which he will once again be serving as the host, Kang Daniel was asked about his thoughts on filming for the show.
To this, Kang Daniel responded with, "To be honest, it was so comfortable because they were all men. I am happy. Because my energy doesn't get sucked out of me. I was very scared in the beginning actually. But 'Street Woman Fighter' was scarier and I like [what I am doing] now more."
While the statement may seem innocent, fans found that Kang Daniel used the Korean word for "energy-sucking" that pertains to situations involving cliques of women. The word is typically used as a way to patronize and place women under the stereotype that they are cattier than men.
When fans later pointed out why his previous statement was problematic, the "Antidote" singer brushed off fans' criticisms and even blocked them.
Following this, Kang Daniel's remarks quickly spread across social media, where the idol continued to receive criticism.

Hours later, Kang Daniel issued an apology for his allegedly sexist remarks through Instagram.
On his Instagram, Kang Daniel said:
"Hello, this is Kang Daniel.
First of all, I would like to apologize for the private messages [on UNIVERSE].
I am sorry for causing unnecessary misunderstandings by exaggerating the meaning of 'I was nervous and shaking.'
My response to the situation where I was trying to be wary of promoting or escalating gender conflict was imprudent.
I am sorry that this whole process hurt my fans, who always care about me and worry about me.
From now on, I will be more careful about my remarks and actions."
