Patrick Schwarzenegger Follows Father Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Footsteps: Pumps Muscles, Supports Gun Control Legislation

The apple never falls far from the tree.

Patrick Schwarzenegger, Arnold Schwarzenegger's 19-year-old son, posted a photo of himself flexing his muscles via Twitter on Friday, showcasing his pursuit to bulk up for the summer, but the rising teen star shares another passion with his bodybuilder father many people wouldn't think of - gun control.

Patrick Schwarzenegger posted his thoughts about the shooting spree in Santa Monica on Friday that killed four and left several injured, saying "Can't believe this shooting happened at Santa Monica City College. Was a mile away when it happened. Prayers to everyone at that school."

"Hoping people will realize the destruction gun can do," he said on Twitter.

"My pops briefly went to Santa Monica city college & tons of my friends go there today."

And while Arnold Schwarzenegger is best known for his action-packed Hollywood films where he was oftentimes seen shooting large automatic machine guns, the former bodybuilder gone politician is an adamant support of gun control legislation.

In an interview with Time Magazine prior to his 2003 California governor's candidacy race, he emphasized his support for a ban on assault weapons and handguns in the United States outlined by the Brady Bill, saying "I'm for gun control. I'm a peace-loving guy."

Arnold Schwarzenegger also mentioned that he supports the Second Amendment but also believes there are responsibilities that gun owners must follow in owning a firearm.

"I support the Brady bill, I support the current assault weapons ban and I believe that guns must have safety devices or be stored as to prevent accidental discharge."

So while many believe picking things up and putting them down are the only things the two Schwarzeneggers have in common, the two actually share very similar views on gun control.
