Virtual Human Garners Attention for Closely Resembling Red Velvet Irene
In more recent years, there has been a rise in virtual human influencers as technology advances. In South Korea, they utilize virtual humans to promote various brands and events, and in this case, the country itself.
Back on June 24, the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) introduced their honorary ambassador of Korean tourism, a virtual human named Lizzie Yeo, through a video entitled "Travel all over Korea with Lizzie!" on Imagine Your Korea's Youtube channel.
According to KTO, Lizzie Yeo is a 22-year-old who travels around South Korea to show the world the beautiful attractions that can be found in the country.
Following the video's release, Lizzie Yeo became a buzz on Korean social media and online community sites, as she is the first virtual human to be an ambassador for Korean tourism. However, she is also gaining more attention for her uncanny resemblance to a certain K-pop idol!
On online community forums, Lizzie Yeo is drawing attention as many found her to closely resemble Red Velvet's leader, Irene. In fact, the virtual human especially looks similar to the Red Velvet member in certain angles and facial expressions.
As netizens saw the resemblance, many thought that it was really Irene herself. Some were even surprised with how realistic the virtual human looked and that the idol may have been used as a reference in creating Lizzie Yeo.
