Many idols decided to keep in touch with their former co-members even after departure from respective groups, but these stars' friendships ended up falling apart after their departure.
From being trainees until their debut, K-pop groups' members practically grew up together and formed friendships resembling that of a real family. But due to discord, legal disputes and whatever reason, these idols' relationships suffered until they decided to cut their ties with their former groups.
Here Are K-pop Idols Who 'Cut Ties' With Former Group Members:
1. Girls' Generation & Jessica
In 2014, Jessica announced that she was "forced out" of Girls' Generation.
Later on, SM Entertainment confirmed that she was no longeer a member of the group, but clarified that the idol left to focus on her business, BLANC & ECLARE.
Since then, there had been no hint of contact between members until in 2016, where Jessica said via media outlet TVReport that:
“There are some members that I keep in touch with and some that I don’t."
But later on, Jessica would contradict her initial statement and would say that she hadn't been in contact with the members since she left.
2. EXO & Luhan, Kris, Tao
In 2014, Kris and Luhan left EXO, followed by the withdrawal of Tao in 2015, with all three members filing lawsuits against SM Entertainment. They left for China and continued their respective careers in their homeland.
Although the three of them still interact with one another, they don't keep in touch with other EXO members, at least publicly. Luhan, however, was seen still interacting with Lay.
Meanwhile, the overall lack of interaction could be due to legal reasons involving the group's agency.
3. AOA & Mina
In 2019, Mina left AOA and FNC Entertainment after deciding not to renew her contract with the company. It was a year after when the female idol exposed the group's bullying acts against her, particularly their former leader Jimin for 10 years. She revealed that this was also one of the reasons she decided to leave the group.
When the topic was still hot, Mina complained about how no members stood up for her while she was being bullied and went on by saying that she cut her ties with the members on SNS to "erase her memories" while in the group.
4. MOMOLAND & Daisy
Daisy faced a similar case with Jessica and claimed that she was "kicked out" of the group.
In context, Daisy had been MIA from the group starting at the end of 2019 and MOMOLAND would continue promoting without her.
In 2020, Daisy confirmed she was "fired" from the group following a lawsuit battle against earnings, but it was not officially announced by MLD Entertainment.
After two years, Daisy opened up about her current relationship with MOMOLAND on her Instagram story. When asked:
"Are you still close with members?"
Daisy replied:
"We haven't spoken since 2019! Respectfully, this will be the last time I'll be answering this question."
5. Bolbbalgan4 & Woo Ji Yoon
Bolbbalgan4 is a K-pop duo comprised of Ahn Ji Young and Woo Ji Yoon. They are notable for their songs like "Some," "To My Youth," and more.
The two used to be close friends but the latter suddenly left the duo in 2020 and cited "concerns about her own path" as the main reason.
From then on, both decided to pursue solo careers but the discord between the two broke after Ji Yoon's song was allegedly aimed at Ahn. The latter decided to unfollow the former and complained about being ignored by Ji Yoon.
Ji Yoon then refuted that she wrote the song to snipe at Ahn since the song was written years ago and revealed that it was Ahn who wanted her to leave the group more quickly than they initially agreed to.
