On August 10, an exclusive interview of Min Jee Jin with Korean media outlet JoongAng Ilbo was released. In this interview, Min Hee Jin directly responds to the accusations.

Min Hee Jin started off by saying she only found out about the controversy after others told her, as she is not active on social media. She then denied the accusations thrown against her.

Min Hee Jin said, "They are all false accusations. So everyone that's around me, from acquaintances to the company, all ignore it because they think it is not something worth worrying about. However, I don't want to suffer the injustice and I don't know when to ignore it. I have been busy, but I still find the time to think about it."

She went on to say that she believes in logical developments, however, there is a chance that people won't accept a certain logic as they are criticizing her for her imagination.

"I am a fan of logical developments, so just working on that is enough. But there is a good chance that people don't accept that logic as they are attacking me based on my imagination. At this point, everything seems intentional," Min Hee Jin said.

Although she was told to just ignore the attacks, she feels there is no reason for her to suffer defamation. She then points out that NewJeans has achieved positive results, yet finds it contradictory that the public are both praising and doubting her intentions.

Min Hee Jin to Take Legal Action Following Controversy

When she was asked how she handled the accusations, Min Hee Jin pointed out that the controversy would have become bigger had she responded to the claims.

She then explained, "When people take screenshots of the things they like, do they all research where they are from before posting it? I didn't think much about those photos either. I just posted what I liked, but people thought I was up to something."

Min Hee Jin continued, "This is the double standard. So do all of the people who have me the items in my house have a problem?"

Amid the controversy, Min Hee Jin's acquaintances had sent her screenshots of the posts that accuse her of sexualizing minors. She noticed that they had compared female celebrities to the character of Tomie in Junji Ito's manga of the same name. She then criticizes netizens, saying, "I have been misrepresented by netizens about my intentions, all while they are doing the same thing."

She added, "They even bring in movies to associate with the photos I have posted, which are totally unrelated. Really, these slanderers only show how pathetic they are when they make up such fiction. They keep criticizing, but even if I explain, they probably won't listen."

Min Hee Jin ends the topic by stating the spreading of false information and defamation like such are very serious and unacceptable. As a result, she has decided to file a criminal complaint on malicious netizens.

In addition, Min Hee Jin has also decided to organize a department to deal with such issues in order to prevent and protect the NewJeans members in the future.
