‘Glee’ Star Jane Lynch Announces Divorce From Her Wife After Three Years Of Marriage

"Glee" star Jane Lynch and her wife are divorcing after three years of marriage, People magazine reports.

Lynch explained the decision to divorce from her wife, clinical psychologist Dr. Lara Embry. "Lara and I have decided to end our marriage. This has been a difficult decision for us as we care very deeply about one another. We ask for privacy as we deal with this family matter," Lynch said in a statement.

A year after meeting at a California fundraiser, Lynch, 52, married Embry, 44, in Massachusetts in 2010, one of the few states in the United States where gay marriage is recognized. The wedding was an intimate ceremony, with 19 friends and family members, including Embry's daughter Haden.

"My greatest pleasure is Haden, my stepdaughter," Lynch told People last March. "I am surprised how much love you feel and how you would do anything for your children."

Lynch is an Emmy-award winning actress for her role as high school cheerleader coach Sue Sylvester in the Fox musical comedy series "Glee," People reports.

She is currently starring on Broadway as Miss Hannigan in Annie: The Musical and performed at the Tony Awards in New York City Sunday.

Embry graduated from Smith and received master's degrees from Columbia University and the University of Washington, where she also earned a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, Newsday reports.
